I have a hard time parting with things... (whether it may be clothes, handbags, etc)

A few weeks ago, my dad took a bunch of photos of clothes he wanted to sale - brand new with tags and I posted them on Mercari. Just this morning, I received a sale on Mercari and it was one of his rayon shirts. He then told me, that was the shirt he was about to wear this week! I told him I can cancel the sale if he wanted, and he said no. I told him - So when the item sales, now you want to wear it? I guess I have the same characteristics from my dad because I have a hard time parting with & doesn't reach for all of them so the shirt is going to a new home soon!

@infatuatedbby The first step to a cure is admitting you have a problem.

I can be like that at times... only because in the past I've gotten rid of things then later found I had a need for them again. I try to save money so I'd rather not get rid of something I may have a use for. So in the end I've turned into a clothes hoarder.

@infatuatedbby Yep! I don't hoard clothes for myself too much... it's usually stuff for the kids. I have 4 boys so I save all of their stuff for the next one and only get rid of things that the youngest has outgrown... but I mean I hold on to stuff with holes and stains even, because they can use it for play clothes or pajamas or something. Also.. I've dropped 2 sizes over the past year and haven't gotten rid of my fat clothes yet. The last time I got rid of my fat clothes I gained all the weight back. Then unfortunately I got rid of my skinny clothes when I put the weight back on, so now that I'm losing weight again I have to go buy all new clothes..

@katsmeow1213 Wow 4 boys =) Are you going try for a baby girl, hehe. But that helps with the cost of the boys being able to share their clothes then! And you're right even clothes with holes or stains can be used for lounging, play, or into rags or something as well. That's great you're losing weight again but then you'll eventually need a new wardrobe ! =)

I am a clothes hoarder Sometimes I buy just because and then not want it later or don't have an occasion to wear the clothes. Or even its too small or too big.

Is Mercari a third party website like Ebay?

It's a us only based company where you can sell anything they take 10% though! Sort of like eBay but only for United States

I have never had that problem. but I live with someone who does, my hubby. What I do is when he leaves to go fishing I throw stuff out, and he never misses it.

I have a hard time parting with things too. We did the Purge of 2014 and I was surprised how easy it was to get rid of stuff.

My issue is a bit different. I am no good in organising sales but neither do I know who I should give my dinner sets. In the good old days eating in style was in vogue but now with fast food taking centre stage no one is interested in having banquets so to say

Then , your dad isn't so keen in having it sold , however , someone is already wanting to buy it so he just let it go. I always part with clothes i have not been wearing anymore . It's easy for me because i know , i don't like them anymore .

@infatuatedbby I just have to force myself to either take things to the Salvation Army or try to sell it on Ebay. My husband also encourages me to do that. He says if it were not for him, I would be a hoarder.
