Two Amber Vision Ware covered casserole dishes by Corning seemed to be just waiting for us at the Hospice Thrift store today.
Similar to the cranberry dishes by Corning that we found last month, the Amber Vision Ware casserole dishes were also a bargain. Just $4 for the larger one (1.5 quarts) and $3 for the 1 quart. A link to the previous article about Vision Ware is below.
Even if we give these to a student here or someone else with an appreciation for glass when cooking, it was a great deal.
Some don't care if they are baking or serving in glass, such as the Vision Ware we have been finding. Others really enjoy using glass rather metal pans or serving pieces.
The photo was taken today by me after the purchase of this Amber Vision Ware.
The cranberry covered casserole dish pictured here was purchased by us in a Hospice store for $2.00. The price is great for this cranberry casserole dish, as...

When I was preparing and freezing meals for my parents I went to the thrift stores to find small corningware casserole dishes that were useable in the oven, on the stovetop in the microwave and freezer. They were the perfect container.

It is amazing what gets discarded and winds up in the thrift stores here.

@PatZAnthony when we emptied out my parents house there were so many things we donated to thrift shops. We couldn't begin to absorb all of their stuff into our homes.

These were a deal for us. It is nice to have something that does not cost too much just in case someone breaks it!

These are a different color and we think will be given to a family member trying to replace metal with glass.

I don't have any of the glass cookware, but anything like that is easy to clean and that I like.

Yes, and easy to break! That is the downside to glass products.

@PatZAnthony I use a lot of corning wear and the glass lids chip easily.

With so many warnings about what could be in metal, the glass just seems to be a better choice.

i love glass ware of any kind. especially the old ones. glass with the invention of so much plastic these days seems to be becoming obsolete

I guess it is being able to see the food being cooked at a glance to see how close it is to being ready to serve

Yes, that is one of the things many like about the glass cookware, as well as it not being plastic of aluminum.

I remember our Vision ware. I think it was darker in color than that.

I grew up with corning and still us a lot of it. My mother grew up next to Corning, NY so we have visited the museum often. If you ever get near Corning, you should see it...
