Disney channel shows run for only 3-4 seasons... why?

It seems that shows on Disney Channel run for only three seasons and may run for another season if the fans are very vocal about wanting another season. And that's not even a guarantee. Why is that? If a show is great and the fans embrace it and watch every episode, and if it makes an impact on them and connects with them why should it be limited to only three seasons, four seasons tops? It makes no sense to me.

That's the way Disney Channel has always does things even when a series is very popular. It came as a shock that Girl Meets World has been cancelled after three seasons instead of at least going four.

That's so sad that Girl Meets World is over... Everyone was rooting for the show and many campaigned on social media to save it for another season but it didn't work in the end. Maybe Netflix will pick it up. Knowing that Boy Meets World ran for 7 seasons, it is upsetting that Girl Meets World only ran for 3.

Probably because the contracts are so terrible and so controlling that actors do not want to be a disney person for the rest of their lives and actually want to do other work.

It's impossible to understand the thinking behind some of these decisions.
