Music night tonight...

I have always been a MAJOR music lover! I had a collection of music that was pretty amazing! From LP's, to 45's, to cassettes, to CD's...without exaggeration...I had well over 1,000 individual 45's/albums/cassettes/CD's. And I had not bought anything new for approximately 8 years. When I lost everything, it took me a while to want to rebuild. I was so depressed about losing my treasured collection. Over the last few months, I have gotten my "zip" back in my "do da day"... So I've started my collection again. But instead of paying full price for them, I have been looking for them in the various thrift stores we have here in town. Most I have not paid more than .50 cents to $1.00... All of them are literally in pristine condition. Some of the jackets might be messed up a little. I will not purchase any that have major scratches on them. I have a few with a couple of minor ones on them, but they play just fine. I was always very particular about how I kept my collection. However, if you purchase 10 at Goodwill, you can get them for .30 cents each. It is unusual to find that many at once, that I want. But I have managed to do it a couple of times in the past, and today was my third. I am always thrilled when I can find exactly what I once had...but have decided to expand my collection, and get some classics I never had, and some newer stuff. Today...I was able to pick up some James Taylor, Sarah McLachlan, Neil Diamond, Bon Jovi, Alicia Keys, Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, just to name a few. I have added back approximately 115 to 120 to my collection, so far. Over these past few months, I have even found a few that I once had on vinyls, that are now on CD's. I had a John Denver Greatest Hits Collection, that originally came out on vinyl, so was excited to get that one back. Every now and then, I like to have a "music night" instead of watching TV, and tonight was that night. I have enjoyed some Sarah McLachlan, James Taylor, and now I am listening to The Carpenters. Karen Carpenter had the prettiest voice. I like all kinds of genres in music. There is very little when it comes to music, that I don't like. Music has always been my escape from a troubled world. Any other music buffs out there?

I would never give up my vinyls for CDs, the sound of the vinyls is more warm, I like them so much more.

I never gave mine up. I lost everything. Nothing before 2016 exists. It was like my entire identity was stripped. I now take what I can find, or is given to me.

No, I don't care for music. (See my 1000 posts, 994 of which are music. ) I am so glad you're starting to recover the lost albums. A friend of mine lost his record collection when the flood hit Grand Forks, ND in the mid-90's. I found a copy of Ray Charles' Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music album on vinyl, which I knew was one of his all-time favorite albums, and sent it to him.

That was a kind thing you did for your friend. I know he appreciated it.

I have been just using youtube, but the used stores are much further away, and I cant really afford the gas to get to them, but I start a new job today, that I can walk too, so hopefully this helps. I am glad you found old treasures though!

that's amazing @teresatrotter ...i too love music a lot. Though I might not have a collection, my laptop and speakers work for me. I do have a habit of listening music in the morning...just can't get outta bed without that..

I go to bed with it. I have almost 3,000 songs on my computer too. But it is easier for me to listen to one particular person on a CD. It is about getting a part of my past back, when I get CD.
