"Oh you remembered. Thank you"!!

This is a standard reaction when one gets a birthday greeting. Most of the time they are reminded and if you are on FB that is guaranteed that your birth date will be flashed all over the place. I have hidden my date as I do not want to be wished after someone is reminded
For me receiving a card or a greeting is not important but remembering my birthday is.
Do you need a reminder or are you a gracious soul who remembers?

I am good about remembering birthday of my family and friends. I don't need a reminder.

It is the interaction throughout that is of relevance and not just wishing someone on their birthday and forgetting their existence rest of the year.

I remember the birthdays of those close to me . . . family for sure - and certain friends. I am impressed if someone actually remembers my birthday (and I don't mean on FB) - because many do seem to rely on reminders. I think of my mother in law who asks me each and every year when my birthday is . . . we tell her to write it on the calendar . . . but then she forgets it anyway

The main thing is to remember but this has been swept under the carpet by the present generation and they think it is great to wish after they are reminded

@allknowing It's sad that people don't use their brains as much these days . . . they seem to rely on these reminders or alerts on their gadgets . . . it's as if they feel there is no need to remember anything.

@much2say As I have said elsewhere here remembering is more than remembering. It says a lot about a relationship.

I purposely don't put my birthday on social media to see who would remember, haha. Although it's not really a big deal if nobody does.

I agree with you Some just wish after being reminded that too and then forget you rest of the year.

I need to hide mine as I don't want the generic Happy Birthday because Facebook reminded them as a notification =)

The other day my niece was her. She got a message on Whatsapp telling her that it was someone's birthday. She immediately sent a message. Surely she must have received a messaged back "Oh! you remembered. Thank you" I dug into her and told her that this is the second generation who wish because they have to and not because they remember

Of course i need a reminder for some friends' birthdays because i have lots of friends that i won't be able to remember them all whenever their birthday comes .
I don't mind if they were reminded that it's my birthday . What is important is that they greeted me .

I am not keen on getting wishes if someone is reminded. I have scores who I know - relatives, friends and casual acquaintances. If everyone sends me wishes after they have been reminded I would go berserk.

It's fun to know who actually remembers without being reminded... It's better to get just a few birthday wish from those who actually care and remember rather than getting tons of wishes from people who might just felt obliged to do so after seeing a reminder...

That is exactly what I have tried to say here.
Remembering says a lot of a relationship

It is time everyone moves on and not expect wishes unless one remembers.
