Posting Issues, Warm Weather, Chance of Rain

For the past three days, and today, we've had issues with icy conditions here in eastern NC but things online have gone smoothly. Not so this morning. The discussion about today I had originally written did not post. It froze up, the little circle just kept turning, and then it was gone. Seeing things weren't going as planned, I copied the text of the discussion but when I tried to post that into a new box, the copy wouldn't paste and now it appears to be gone as well. Ah, the vagaries of working online. I should have copied the text and pasted it to a note app, but that seemed like too much trouble at the time. Next time I'll know better. What I had written about was the warmer weather coming our way, and the forecast of rain we are expecting, which should combine to do away with the snow and ice remaining on the roads around the county. This will allow the buses to run tomorrow, meaning school can open, and I can get back with my kids. I did send out a message on our school messaging app to let my students know I was thinking about them and reminding them to finish the assignment I gave them Friday. I know, Boo Mr. D, homework on Friday. Normally I don't give Friday homework. The likelihood of not having school Monday, and now not having school today, made giving them something they could work on while they were out seem like a good idea. Now I'm glad I did. The photo, if it appears, heading this post was taken yesterday afternoon just down the road from my house at the creek that divides my land from my next door neighbors. I though the ice looked artistic. We'll see if Pixabay agrees when I upload it later today. I've read where some of y'all have been having trouble with discussions not posting. I hope this won't become a regularly occurring issue. Just in case, I'm copying this discussion to Word before I try to post it. How are y'all going to be spending this Tuesday?

Ice has a way of making everything look artistic. Nice picture. I thought teachers always gave homework, even on Friday. It seemed I was always doing it way back when. I haven't had posting problems, but good to know that's also happening. I'm spending Tuesday here on my computer.

Weekend homework used to be normal, but then parents complained to the school board and suddenly it was suggested, not required, but strongly suggested, we limit the amount of weekend homework.

@just4him And the worst part is, they think they're doing what is best for their children. The parents can't see they are setting their child up for failure and disappointment when they go out in the real world. Look at all the college kids who melted down after the election. Whether you like Trump or not (full disclosure-I don't), we never had such a thing happen in past elections.

I always copy my text before attempting to post. I've been burnt too many times not to. It's odd that it wasn't still on your clipboard though.

For all I know I accidentally pasted it somewhere else and someone is looking at it right now thinking "What in the world is this?"

@moffittjc This is the second time it's happened, but it may be at my end. Not in my house, but some of our transmission lines and such are still being repaired from damage dating back to Matthew. It seems like just when they think they've got it all set, something else cuts out.

I used to copy all my text when I wrote on Bubblews, because I always had problems there. But I've never had that problem here on myLot yet.

If you're finally thawing out up in North Carolina, that means all of us here in Florida will not be far behind. Good! I'm tired of the cold. I've had to scrape ice off my windshield the past three mornings, and I really don't like doing that when the temperature is below freezing.

Since I haven't had anywhere to go with school closed, I haven't done much scraping. I did sweep off my truck yesterday, though, thinking we might have school today.

@DWDavis Unfortunately, even with all our ice, I still had to go to work today.

If I'm not sure whether I can save a post or not another option is to hit the print screen function on your keyboard and then save that to paint. You may need to retype it, but it would be saved in that manner if you forgot to save it to a notepad first. When it appears you've lost a post, did you know you can hit the discuss button again and that post may show up that way if you've not switched your page or deleted that tab.

I have recovered a post by hitting the Discussion Button as soon as it disappeared. I hadn't thought about using Print Screen. That is a good idea. Thanks.

I had that little spinning circle too and quickly copied what I had written, but then found that all but the photo had posted, so I edited and added the pic. Our snow and ice is gone today and I how we have no more coming. Schools have lost many days due to bad weather here.

It seems your schools are in the same boat we are. We lost 8 days due to Hurricane Matthew and the flooding that followed. The legislature forgave 6 and we have to make up 2. Now we've lost 2 more we'll have to make up. I hope this is the beginning and end of winter weather for us.

I love the photo. I always write in Word first then copy and paste to here. I haven't had trouble with posts not loading but I'm sure some of the comments I've posted haven't 'taken' and have disappeared. This worries me a bit as I always like to reply to people who comment.

When I was better about keeping up with my blog, I would always write posts in Word first and then copy them to the blog app. Maybe I need to start doing that here. It would be kind of a pain, but better than losing another post.

@JudyEv That would be a good reason for me to keep copies. I'm liable to repeat myself.

@DWDavis I like to have a record of what I've written. I worry that I'll write about something twice if I can't check back. I do sometimes do a sort of repeat but usually from a different angle.

Interesting picture with ice. Sometimes there's problem posting when the picture is too big or heavy to upload

Good to be ice and snow free. We should be mostly free of it after today.

I've had posts disappear but it's usually not a recurring problem. The ice in your photo does look artistic and I bet that creek is pretty in the warmer weather

I like the ice effect. Some look like flowers and I even see "hands."

Thanks. When I first glanced I thought it was litter. Then I realized it was ice and zoomed in to notice all the cool shapes.

I think the problem might be somewhere here at my end. Our infrastructure for power and internet is still being repaired in the wake if the Hurricane and this ice didn't help any.
