Eagle Update

I keep checking back to the live web cam of the eagle's nest in Florida where one egg hatched a week or so ago. The second egg still hasn't hatched though it did begin to crack. When I checked today the baby that did hatch looked like it was dying. I decided to check the official website where the experts who are monitoring the cameras post updates. The eaglet left the nest today so I guess it was a little out of it when I checked in. Probably fell hard. A short time later it was up and being fed. They also indicated on the site that they didn't believe the other egg to be viable, so it doesn't sound like it's going to hatch. Because it started to hatch I feel like the eaglet inside died. Apparently having only one of the two eggs hatch is common. You learn something new everyday.

I've been watching it ever since you first wrote about it and I did wonder why that second egg hasn't hatched yet. I didn't notice anything about the eaglet falling but I have seen it squeak for food and watched momma feed it several times. I don't think there's anything wrong with the little thing, it's just not strong enough to hold up it's head for very long yet. Hopefully the second egg is going to hatch, I'd love for you and the experts to be wrong about that, I am a dreamer.

I have been watching also. Its sad to see the second egg, as saw the news that it might not hatch and wanted to go help the egg. Nature has a way of telling us that not everything will hatch.

I find it fascinating that what is happening outside the eagle's body is what happens inside a human female's body. Eggs may or may not get fertilized. They may not be viable. Or a woman may miscarry. We can learn so much from animals and nature.

Isn't it interesting how we can use 'live web cams' to see most of the things going on in the world today? Yes, we do learn something new every day. Make life a little more fun.
