What makes you happy?

The search for happiness eludes many. Everyone wants to be happy. Not everyone is happy with the same things. But what makes you happy? I would think that every one would be happy to be healthy. Practically every one would be happy to be wealthy. But how much is enough? Or is it never enough? It's hard to be happy without love. Right? Can one be happy without a good relationship with God? What would you add to this list? What would you want in order to declare that you are happy?
So happy together with lyrics. Check this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6hzxrTu6T8

What would make me happy is doing what I love like laying on a white sand beach while sipping margarita.

@1hopefulman I could live like that for the rest of my life. Of course that is in addition to what you have said.

@toniganzon Then it's not too bad! But I don't like it when it's too hot, so I would need a nice big umbrella and an island girl fanning me.

It makes me happy to be with the man I love, doing what we like, being healthy and not having to care too much for the future.

The only thing that truly makes me happy is my relationship with Jesus Christ. Yes, my children and grandchildren make me happy, so does finishing a book I'm writing. But it doesn't last, but my relationship with Jesus is the best happiness around.

All good things start with God! Interesting words God and good! James 1:17 Young's Literal Translation (YLT) 17 every good giving, and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the lights, with whom is no variation, or shadow of turning;

Is it strange to say that I have felt the presence of God in the room with me, especially when I was working one on one with disadvantaged kids who were not loved by their parents, but that I am also willing to entertain the possibility that God was invented by humans to give our lives meaning?

I addition to what you have said I would be extremely happy if I had the energy and ability to always help those in need. I love seeing people smile. So whether it's seeing their pain and being able to relieve a bit of it or giving them a new car (whatever they need) that would make me happy.

I'm with you here. I should have put helping those in need on my list. And for me, it ties in with @1hopefulman and @just4him's comments. My life is heavily influenced by two bible chapters (are those chapters? or chapters and verses?): Matthew 25 and Isaiah 58.

@just4him Or rather impending crucifixion, I assume. My favorite musical work is Handel's Messiah. Much of the text comes from Isaiah.

@TheHorse I knew about Matthew 25 for you, but didn't realize your other influential chapter was Isaiah 58. Good chapter. Another would be Isaiah 53 as it talks about our Savior's crucifixion.

Every person has a story and everyone gets there share of joy and sadness I guess in their life. Nice song to listen to. Douglas Hatlelid had connections with the Monkees. Can you hear it in this song? John Barbata's mother found a man stranded in a boat that had run out of gas who turned out to be Albert Einstein. They are both in their 70's now.

Yes, we all get our joys and we all get our problems though some are more blessed than others when it comes to happiness. Thanks for liking my song and I did some research on Douglas and it was very interesting. Also your story about Albert is quite interesting. One never knows who they are going to meet. All the girls I fell in love with were not like the girl in this famous song.

My happiness would be complete when all my young and adult children delight in God in willingly following His Commandments, precepts and statutes-- Deuteronomy 10:12. And they will be blessed. That quite sums up the wholeness of happiness for me. :-)

Different things make me happy in different ways. Small things, material things, people, etc. Sometimes I'm not happy even if I have all the things that make me happy, and sometimes I am happy even when I don't have all the things that make me happy. I have a loving fiance and his love makes me happy. My own achievements, as well as the achievements of my children, make me happy. Having a lie on on a Sunday makes me happy, as does having a cup of tea that I don't have to make myself!

Hi! While I am reading your post, I remember the article that I wrote in my blog last year. It was entitled "Revisiting Ways to Be Happy Through Travelling Back to Childhood Days." That article is very important for me. It reminds me that sometimes we are looking too far just to be happy when in fact, they key to happiness is just within us. We have the power to be happy if we just choose to be.

So you think that happiness is a totally internal matter and what we have or don't have and what happens around us is not a factor in happiness?

@1hopefulman Not really. But we cannot spread happiness around us if we ourselves aren't really happy. It is like in giving as well. We cannot give what we do not have.
