You know that old saying about Brick Walls?

I am sure there are several different variants, but the one I am thinking of refers to talking to someone and them responding as if they were a brick wall.
Well last night I had a conversation with someone and afterwards posted a status on facebook to somewhat vent my frustration. The status said something along the lines of "You know that old saying about brick walls? Well I just talked to someone and I feel as if I'd have had a more lively conversation with a brick wall."
I was referring to someone I had to discuss some thing with at work. The conversation seemed to go on forever and yet I feel as if nothing will come of it. It both frustrates and angers me but there is little that I can personally do. In fact, the whole point of the conversation was to hopefully get something done about an irksome situation at work.
Have you ever had a conversation with someone, and after coming from it, had the overwhelming feeling that you'd have had better luck with a brick wall?
Do you know the saying to which I refer?

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yep.. teens are the worst. Their mind is set and you can't change it to save your life.. they don't want to hear anything you have to say..

@katsmeow1213 My sister has two kids and both are approaching teenage years. My nephew is 16 and my niece is 10. She hasn't thrown much sass yet but it's only a matter of time.

I am a walking contradiction. My temper can flare but I avoid confrontation at all costs. I want things to be fair and so when I approach situations where I have to confront something I am stern yet open minded.
The person I had to talk to was a closed book.

@just4him I'm facing a situation where it appears as if my direct manager is trying to get rid of me, but I cant' be certain. It's not something I will ever flat out say, but I'd also appreciate some sort of communication on what they feel I've done wrong.
On another aside, there's a co worker who has been able to get away with a lot of things that should be firing offenses, but he's been able to get away with. It's a very unfair place to work, and only my stubborn will has kept me there.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I'm a lot like that. It's too bad he was a closed book.

@ScribbledAdNauseum ......Being set in their way can cause problems for others if they are in a relationship. Some tend to go too far one direction and it makes it hard to be around them.

@celticeagle Yes, you definitely have to learn to be flexible in terms of relationships.

This person might just be both, but they are also very set in their ways it seems.
I can't fault them for that, atleast, but it does make for a frustrating ordeal. Throwing in the fact that I believe this person is intimidated by the entire situation, it makes fore quite the continuous complaint.

@louievill I would be only so happy to do so, but I also like my freedom. I don't think I'd look good in prison colors.

I have family members like that too. Most of the time I just shake my head and walk away.

@LadyDuck Atleast as far as family goes, they tend to come around.

@ScribbledAdNauseum There is nothing else we can do, just be patient and shake our head.

My wall isn't necessarily brick...but yes, I've felt that it might have been more productive to talk to the wall.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I did not know he was the boss and yes some are mere figureheads good for nothing.

@allknowing Fortunately, I don't have to talk to him much. Unfortunately, when I find the need to it seems I'm hitting a brick wall instead.

This person's title in the company is above even "suggestions". As the main boss, he is the one to whom we all inadvertently, report. However, he seems to take his role as more of a "figurehead" and less of a "get things done" mentality.
