Its just fantastic when people you have been conversing with through an informal blog or rants and raves can depict your likes this well. I was absolutelty delighted when my Newest postcard arrived from FLORIDA yesterday courtesy of @Jeanniemaries who has obviously been paying attention to my writings and noticed my little Christmas Betty Boop Avatar. I have decided to use the lovely postcard illustration as my Month's Avatar - feeling a little naughty as little Miss Betty Boop who is characterized as follows: "A caricature of a Jazz Age flapper, Betty Boop was described in a 1934 court case as: "combing in appearance the childish with the sophisticated — a large round baby face with big eyes and a nose like a button, framed in a somewhat careful coiffure, with a very small body of which perhaps the leading characteristic is the most self-confident little bust imaginable. Despite having been toned down in the mid-1930's as a result of the Hays Code to appear more demure, she became one of the best-known and popular cartoon characters in the world." Thank you Jeannie - I JUST LOVE IT!! Barry just a note to say that my First Day Covers from Gibraltar arrived and they will be featured soon. @Asylum Its Friday everyone - find something to Celebrate even if its Waking up!!

@inlemay I found my pulse when I woke this morning and am celebrating with Earl Grey tea and an apricot croissant. I have also accorded myself a day off since I worked so hard yesterday.

Oh, there you are! Didn't see you lurking under my comment (which mentions you in a roundabout way). You've probably gone somewhere else now.

I cannot see any connection linking Betty Boop with Florida, although it is a very nice looking postcard. As for Gibraltar, I assume that you are referring to the set of Christmas stamps that I discovered.

@Inlemay I was particularly attracted to those because of the subject, Christmas cookies. Someone had recently written a post about Christmas cookies, which was the first time that I had heard of such items.

The only thing I can think of would be the Betty Boop Store in Universal Studios Florida...

The postcard is very nice, I do not see the link between Betty Boop and Florida. I suppose she is ready for the Daytona Bike Week here.

@Inlemay Better late than never... I sent a birthday card to my sister in the States a few months ago and she never received it... I don't usually send cards either but I made an exception that one time because it was her 50th and I found a perfect huge card for her...

I think somebody in that 1934 court case was getting a little bit steamed up over a cartoon character!! Having said that. Lois Griffin! Grrrrrr!!!! Reminds me of a great scene from the British Sci-Fi comedy 'Red Dwarf' where the characters are discussing the attractions of Wilma Flintstone. At one point one of them suddenly stops and says words to the effect of 'Guys this is ridiculous I can't believe we're even discussing this' at which point the rest of them look a little embarrassed at the fact they've been talking about a cartoon character. He then rounds it off by saying 'Wilma would never leave Fred'.
