Light-Hearted Television

January 21, 2017 10:47pm CST
I've always been a big fan of suspense and mystery in television, movies, and books. A well-written, well-acted drama is something I enjoy as well. Lately, however, I need something light. I've been having so much anxiety, so many worries, so much negative on my mind. When I wish to escape for a bit with a television show, I just want to laugh or at least smile. I recently watched the very light television show, Hart of Dixie. This isn't something I would have chosen, but it was recommended to me. So i decided to give it a shot. I ended up really enjoying it. It was basically a dramedy about relationships, teenage angst, but all grown up angst in its place. When it ended, I was sad to say goodbye. Again, I have started a show that I wouldn't have chosen otherwise based on a recommendation called, "Last Man Standing." It's not a great show, but it's enjoyable. I smile and I laugh. And that's pretty much what I need right now. If you know of any light-hearted shows available on Netflix, please let me know!

We don't have Netflix so I wouldn't know what to suggest. Hopefully others will have some good recommendations.

Sorry, I cannot be of any help, we do not have Netflix, it's expensive and of no interest in our country.

@jillybean1222 We have a free TV box with the major Swiss programs with our Internet connection. Those with no Internet can have the same with their telephone. We watch very little TV, only in the evening before going to bed and usually a movie. People are not really TV addicted here. When the nice season arrives we are all outside chatting with friends or playing in the garden.

Can't think of a thing, and we really need more comedy on Netflix and elsewhere.

I don't watch lighthearted shows on Netflix. We are watching The Assets right now about the CIA and Russian Moles. I loved Dexter, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, and shows like that. Hope someone can help you out.

How about The Paradise ? It's a BBC period series about a department store. I'm just starting it. It was a recommendation for some clean, uplifting shows.

When I wanted something to laugh about I would get onto to the 80s sitcoms. They somehow made me feel good. Recently I enjoyed 2 broke girls and I know this ones old but ugly Betty caught my interest as well.
