Oh dear not good for the UK people here! But you can still buy bread and eggs and butter and cheese with your MyLot payout

I just looked at the exchange rate. It seems this morning it is not good at all compared to the dollar. 5 dollars is now worth 3,97. This means if you want to earn £5 you need to earn $6.29.
I paid £3.25 (which was extortionate) in a hotel for coffee on Sunday.
I guess if I do get to $5 here sometime I still get the coffee. It is still more than a loaf of bread. The loaf I like is 1.80 and that works out to $2.27. I think if I looked very hard I could find a cheaper loaf at 45p from Aldi but that is a long way from Budgens in the village so I would use at least £4 in bus fare or the price of petrol.
Then I need butter on the bread. I got as low as 75p (Aldi again.)
In case you want to have fun comparing I have the App although you can also look online at my...supermarket.(.com)
It might be fun to do another comparison.
Lets say:
A loaf of bread
Butter
1 block cheddar cheese
6 Eggs (free range)
In the Uk the cheapest I can get it to is: £3.48 in Aldi which is $4.38
This proves $5 is still good. However if you go to the most expensive place which is Waitrose it is £5.20 which is $6.54.
)Before anyone comments on advertising. I tried to remove it and it is MyLot and not me putting it back in although I think it is legitimate anyway as I am not advertising my own services, but a helpful site?)

The US $ is worth more than the Canadian $, so the exchange is kind to me.

The prices of my supermarket "Super U" are available online and I did the same calculation with their cheapest items, the basic supermarket brand. I replaced the loaf of bread by a French bread and the cheddar by a camembert, they are a bit more expensive but I live in France
.
The prices :
French white bread 0.68 Euro
Butter 250g 1.17 E
Camembert 1.27 E
6 eggs 1.19 E
Total 4.31 Euros = $4.63 today.
I am also below $5

@Jackalyn Lol, an euro is not yet worth a pound. Food is not really expensive in France. To have a real comparison, I should look at the prices in an Aldi supermarket, but the nearest is at 2 miles from my home and their prices are not available online ; I think that I would find approximately the same result than you.

Interesting. I get so confused by the Euro as I end up not buying things thinking I am looking at a £ sign. France does seem to be expensive, but I adore trips on Brittany Ferries and they are so reasonable for food onboard. St Malo for a day this Summer was great.

Aldi's is located in Southern California and I have been in the store. Its a long drive from my home, so bought only a couple of items and prices are good.

It has good prices here. I could have bought 11 items of veg for my $5 the other day

Probably completely irrelevant, but I don't think I'll ever tire of getting so much for so little in Aldi. It rocks my socks.

I went with a friend who was very mistrustful until she saw the price of coconut oil.

And oddly, everyone I know who's been to Australia comments on how it's so much more expensive than the UK. Bizarre!

@JudyEv Oh, that probably makes sense. I'm rubbish at things involving numbers. :)

@Poppylicious Perhaps our prices are as high - or even higher but our exchange rates mean our money doesn't go as far in the UK.

@Asylum I use my Paypal, but always convert into £ unless I need to pay for something in dollars. Thinking about it my habit is to convert when the money comes in. I should do what you do. Most I earn online comes in dollars.
I remember the North as being a lot cheaper. Well, Yorkshire anyway, which some would say is not North at all! I lived right by Ilkley Moor bah Tat. Wonderful memories of being on a sled from the top to the bottom of the field by the Ghyll and flying downhill on a bike to the station to catch a booos. Not so much fun going up the hill home!
I sold buns which are cakes in Betty's. It was most confusing the first day. Mashing tea was another term that made no sense to a Southerner. Eeee I;m reet lathered thinking about it and to this day still say boooos.

Actually, it's better for us now. As the dollar improves against the pound, it can be exchanged for larger amounts of sterling. Before Brexit, the dollar was in the $1.40-50/£1 range. At $1.50 that would be about £3.33. £3.97 is a lot better. Since Brexit, because most of my online income is in US$, my sterling income has increased sharply.

The difference in pricing isn't as much of a difference as I thought it would be. It takes me roughly two months of work here to reach the initial five dollars, so I don't use my money for those purchases or there would be no breakfast for anyone here, lol.
