Well, probably never hear from that person ever again

Heard from someone today that I hadn't talked to since July 5th 1977. 39 1/2 years ago. It was kind of cool...I'd actually thought of them a few months ago and wondered if they were still alive. So it appears they are. BUT it also seems they only contacted me because they were looking for someone else and thought I might have heard from them...which I do fairly often. So I really doubt I'll ever hear from them again...which is a shame, because I always liked them as a person. But for just a moment...

I find it a bit off-putting that they only contacted you looking for someone else.

@JolietJake That's doubly rude then.

Yeah, that kind of bugged me in a way...didn't even get a "Hey good to see you how have you been" just "Do you see Scott any?" Oh well...

Aww, kind of a let down there. I'm sorry but maybe he or she will surprise you again?

I kind of doubt it...too many years in between and I don't think I am their 'kind of person' if you know what I mean...lots of people look at who I was instead of who I am...

Oh, yeah I know how that is. People who don't think you should have changed or something along those lines.

that's happened to me before-people come back completely out of the blue.. and you're kind of like "ok,that was different.."

That is rather sad. At least you got to visit for a few.

We probably all have a few people we would not mind hearing from just every 391/2 years or so.

i bumped Ito a school chum from many years ago.....funny how perceptions are not what we thought.....she knew we were rich....say what? We were poorer than church mice. My mother patched our underwear.

Who knows? Your conversation may have been so sparkling they can't help but call again.

So things were not as they seemed for 39.5 years, so sorry that your perception of them changed in a blink of an eye..

People change and sometimes we keep an ideal image of them in our minds. It's been a long time, maybe you can call back and arrange a meeting with your old friends.

It is funny how you will think of somebody after many years and then there they are. It is almost as though they have the same thought. Cool. I oder hope that you hear from them again.
