Since this will be my 100 th post at this time, I thought that I would discuss living to be a hundred or living to become a centenarian or more. Has anybody in your family lived to be a hundred or more? Do you know any centenarians? Did they share any tips?
My father lived to one hundred and 4 months so I have some experience and I would say that gardening and eating things out of a garden were certainly a factor. Also, he loved to read and learn new things. He was also a spiritual man. He did not smoke for most of his life and drank a bit of wine which he made himself most days of his life
Isaiah 65:20 New International Version (NIV)
20 “Never again will there be in it
an infant who lives but a few days,
or an old man who does not live out his years;
the one who dies at a hundred
will be thought a mere child;
the one who fails to reach[a] a hundred
will be considered accursed.

No. I don't even want to live past 80. I never understood the obsession some people have with wanting to live forever. I mean eventually everyone you know will die, you'll be alone, you'll eventually have seen and done everything so there really isn't a point to it.

Well, what if my friends and family could also live a long time? I love to eat cherries and each year when they are available and I can afford them I still enjoy eating them. Funny, how many things we never get tired of? Lately, I have watched all 7 seasons of the the Star Trek television series. I wish they would make more episodes? I think when we are healthy and do not have too many problems, there are always things to enjoy and make life interesting.

@1hopefulman I still wouldn't want to live forever. It's just not how things are supposed to be. Plus eventually Earth it's self is going to come to an end. The environment already isn't in good condition.

Do you have a reason for not wanting to live to be 100 or more?

In this life we don't know, but in the next, 100 will be nothing.

It was great to meet your dad on the Internet. I called his number once and he actually answered. I tried to say something in Italian, not sure if he understood me, but your brother told me that he had recognised me! I look forward to the time when Christ wakes up our friends, so that we can meet them again..

Humans have eaten eggs for thousands of years. But in 1950s they were blamed to cause heart disease. What is the truth about eggs?? How should the chickens be...

Yes, the quality of life is also important to me. Existence and suffering is not really life. I like the promises of the Bible that speak of everlasting life in health, happiness and prosperity.

As long as I'm healthy and can think clearly, why not?

Yes, if we are healthy and our mind is good, who wants to die? Unless, we are bored? But is life really boring?

I want to reach 100 if I'm still strong but if I'm very sickly and weak I would not dream to be a centenarian. But it's a great achievement

I feel the same way! I want to live as long as I can take care of myself. After that, it is time to sleep until the next world.

So many still do not realize how important eating the right foods (hopefully from their own garden) is when it comes to health and longevity. We know several in their 90s hoping not to live to be 100, or so they say!
Most tell us that staying active and eating vegetables and fruit daily are important. Oh, and attitude! Having the right one is key.

Yes, there are some things (that you mentioned) that help us to enjoy better health and then we don't mind to live a long life. Once our heath deteriorates, then a long life is not so appealing anymore.

Congratulations! She seems like the kind of person I would be happy to know. Maybe I'll get to meet her in the next world. "Let go and let God." I like that!

I too think that quality of life is more important than quantity of life. It will be nice when God improves the quality of life.

@1hopefulman I am trying to eat healthier lately but I really hate spending money on myself so I pretty much eat what is the lowest cost food I can find.

@1hopefulman I post at least once a week. Interacting more, plus I have been away for months. My discussions are almost half of yours now. Let's see if I could post something again today.
Maybe about the payout...

I hope things work out for you and your husband! The prophets tell us that one day life will continue for eternity. May we live in faith in this life, so that we can enjoy the next one in God's ideal world forever. Live long and prosper!

Ye, it would be awesome but I would want to be healthy and be able to care for myself. Of course, in the new earth (Revelation 21:1-5) we will be able to live forever and still look as if we were in our early thirties. Wow!
