My interesting day today 1-26-17

Today in my sons history class (for cyber school) he learned about the Land Bridge Theory which is something I never heard of before about how nomads came from Asia across Beringia to North America. It was a very interesting lesson. Another thing I learned was there were beavers as large as bears at the time. I was at the local library earlier this week and saw a newspaper article saying remains had been found in a town where a friend of mine has children in the nearby school. I texted my friend about it and found out that she is in the hospital with fibroids and needs a blood transfusion as her hemoglobin is so low. I was making dinner and my boyfriend, his son and puppy dropped by. They are out of propane and their house is too cold to stay in so they are spending the night.

For some odd reason "The Land Bridge Theory" sounds familiar though I am not sure if I learned about it in school. Beavers as large as bears! Surely that has to be some sort of tall tale! I would hate to come across one for sure. Does that mean that these beavers were a dangerous creature then? I hope that your friend has a short stay in the hospital!

Back in prehistoric times the oxygen was more pure or something like that so animals were much larger. I can't remember what insect it was butterfly's or mosquitos something like that were the size hawks.

@shaggin I guess prehistoric times would have the purest oxygen of all, have no industrial made items that could cause any kind of harm to the environment. Then again it would be many centuries before that was about!

That is very cool you learned that in school. I remember learning about Pangea but not Beringia.

@LadyDuck I wonder if the class learned about Pangea earlier in the year (the first quarter) before my son started cyber school.

@shaggin We learned about Beringia when the teacher explained the ancient times when the land were still not separated. It was very interesting, it was a period that came after Panagea.

There were sloths that were huge and weighed as much as 3 cars. That is what the article said.

I used to teach that, but good for you. We are never too old to keep learning.

I have a terrible memory so if I was taught this in school I do not remember it. Pangea stuck in my brain as I was fascinated by it so it seems Beringia would have too. Hopefully I will be able to remember this in the future. It seems to help me remember things when I write about them in a journal etc.

@shaggin I learned best by writing things down, too. We are visual learners. I'm still the same.

I hope she doesn't need to have a hysterectomy. I texted her this morning to see how she is doing. I'm waiting to hear back from her.
