To save or to spend

I've heard it over and over again; life is short so live it to the fullest. One way is to spend as opposed to saving money. Why save? Well for one, to have a nest egg just in case the unexpected happens. You could lose your job, the car needs a new engine, and a myriad of other unexpected circumstances. Or you may want to save for a vacation, or some personal item on your wish list. Then there is so much instant gratification to be had from just buying what you want when you want, but is that a responsible way to live? To save or to spend, what are your thoughts?

I do like the idea of spending since you can't take it with you but as you said, I fear not having anything to spend in the later years.

Setting small goals and being careful is spending and you can reach most any goal you set. Saving is easy if you aren't living outside your means.

It is important to put aside even a small amount for security.

Good to have a budget then you don't spend what you can't afford

Very practical even though some may say spending money on wants is living .
