All cracked up....

my seat that is...it's cracked...no no no, not what you're thinking! Let me explain.
We bought a soft close toilet seat that we really liked. It has brass hinges. Most cheaper toilet seats have plastic ones which is what causes the seat to move around a bit while you sit - they just don't tighten well enough. So while looking online for one with the brass hinges is when I discovered the toilet seats with the soft close lid.
Anyway, back to my cracked seat. Yesterday my husband cleaned the bathroom toilets. When he finished with the master bath he told me, then showed me, that the toilet seat has a crack. It's not all the way though yet, but I know its not long for this world.
After the water issues we are dealing with I guess it is appropriate that a 'water accessory' be the next to go. A new one has been ordered...no cracks allowed!

Love the photo of the potty
You said "which is what causes the seat to move around a bit while you sit"
When I sit, the seat stays still. I don't wiggle about and I'm wondering if yu do

Speaking of toilets, finally after many years of dealing with a toilet that had problems, my husband bought a new one the other day.

@AbbyGreenhill Because he is handy, and in the past, he would fix the problem himself. After awhile, he broke down and just bought a new one. Because he is handy, he installed it himself.

@AbbyGreenhill I have just checked the hinges are not plastic, they are stainless steel.

It is wood seat, soft close (quiet close/whatever) lid. Most cheap toilet seats with plastic hinges loosen up and shift - I've sat on many in rentals like that. That cheap stuff was on this house when we bought it and have replaced three toilet seats so far

I hope it arrives soon. I've never seen one with brass hinges.

They are brass covered with chrome. The brass is for the durability.

@AbbyGreenhill I imagine they would last longer being brass.

I prefer a hard seat on my toilet, I don't much care for the soft ones. The hinges on mine are also not tightening properly so I'm going to get a new one too if hubby can't get it right.

The seat is hard - a soft close seat means the lid closes softly - you give it a gentle nudge.

I was in a flash place once and there was a leather-covered toilet seat. When you got up the seat raised up very slightly with you. It was a funny sensation.

@JudyEv I don't like leather furniture - I stick to it.
