My best girlfriend in the whole world called a bit over a week ago to ask if I wanted to get together to play some poker. I absolutley love poker. She was going to set it up for last Sunday but that was my husbands birthday and I couldn't play. My hubby doesn't play poker so today he won't be joining me. So in about 3 hours I'm leaving to go play poker.
My girlfriend and I have been friends for 50 years and she is my dearest friend. I haven't seen her in about a month so I'm very much looking forward to seeing her. Her boyfriend, brother and nephew are also joining us for a fun afternoon. I have a huge bucket of quarters that I will be bringing with me. We like to play for cash. I don't care if I win or lose, I just enjoy playing. If I lose 10 or 20 bucks it's worth it to have a great afternoon with people I love. I have tried to talk my hubby into learning to play but he has no interest. He is working on a project in the basement so he has that to do.
All through out our life my girlfriend and I couldn't play anything without betting. Scrabble, dice, cards, whatever we played we had to bet. Seems it made it more enjoyable at least for us it did.
Wish me luck, maybe today I will be the big winner.

Be lucky. I would love to be able to play poker with friends, but don't know anyone who plays. I have to make do with virtual online poker - you get a million (Virtual) dollars to start with and carry on from there. I really enjoy it and get a thrill from winning even if it's not real cash.

I play poker online too, at pogo and it's just tokens, fun anyway, but once in a while it's way fun to play with friends and see coins on the table. I was the big winner of the bunch I won 12.75

I have always had an interest in playing poker. My first husband seemed to want to teach me to play. He was way too into gambling though and made it impossible for me to learn. We were playing penny ante and I bid wrong and we lost (we were playing couples). Well, long story short, he flipped out, flipped the card table with the cards and money on it. Everything went flying. That ended it for me!

Yikes yea I wouldn't want to play with anyone who gets angry when they lose. We play low stakes as well, I was the big winner I won 12.75

Actually my husband and yes we had a mighty good time, I was the big winner I won 12.75 not huge stakes but enough to add a little spice to the game.

@TheHorse Yikes I didn't make enough to buy everyone breakfast, but the host of the poker game made a huge pot of chili and the rest of us brought stuff to eat as well. So I was fat with food and money lol.

There is indeed fun while playing for money as long as the bets are not huge. I too have enjoyed playing Rummy with friends and family a long time ago.

We played 25 cents with a high bet of 50 cents so it wasn't much. I was the big winner I won 12.75

I like other card games too. Gin Rummy and Plain Rummy along with poker.
