My First Visit To A Strip Club

My first visit to a strip club was actually an accident. I know you’re not believing that statement so here’s the story.
Back when I was either nineteen or twenty the drinking age in Idaho was nineteen. One Saturday night a friend of mine and I decided we would go bar hopping in Idaho. We couldn’t do it in Washington state because the legal drinking age in Washington was twenty-one.
So we set off on our adventure. We ended up in Coeur d'Alene. We went to this bar and that nightclub. We spend maybe an hour at each. At about one in the morning we headed home. On the way home we decide to stop at a little out-of-the-way bar just to see what it was like. We were looking for a different place to go for the following Saturday night.
We poked our heads in and was told there was a two dollar cover charge. We told the guy we were just looking. What we saw was a dark place with a bunch of tables covered with lit candles. Only a few people sat around talking, mostly men. Nothing was happening on the stage. We just thought the stage was there for a band to play. I guess it escaped us that there was no dance floor or instruments on stage.
It was late and we were on our way home. So we left and decided that’s where we would go the following week. After all, we didn’t want to pay a two dollar cover fee and only have one drink. At the time they quit selling alcohol at two in the morning.
The following week we drove to the bar. We paid the two dollar charge and sat at a table about halfway back from the stage. We ordered a couple of beers. As we sat there talking, music started playing and out came this woman on stage, dancing.
“What if she starts taking off her clothes?” I joked with my friend.
“She won’t do that,” my friend said.
“Yeah, I’m sure you’re right.”
The woman twirled around and I thought I saw her bare bottom. But I wasn’t sure since the split dress she had on quickly covered her backside.
Then she whipped off her blouse and threw it on the stage behind her. Then off came the dress. She danced wearing nothing but a bra and G-string. In those days there were no poles for them to whirl around (or at least this place didn’t have one).
Then, whoosh, off came the bra! The woman started shaking, making her breast flop this way and that way.
My friend and I sat there with our mouths hanging open. Of course, being two red-blooded American young men–we couldn’t look away.
She pulled down on her G-string. Next thing I knew she whirled it over her head–naked as a jaybird. She let it fly across the stage. Gyrated all over the place.
The men in the bar whistled, shouted and threw money on the stage.
The music stopped. The woman grabbed the money, ran across the stage picking up her clothes, then disappeared behind a black curtain. The whole thing probably went on for fifteen minutes, but it seemed to only lasted two or three minutes.
I glance at my friend.
“Let’s drink up and get out of here,” he said.
“You don’t want to see what happens next?” I asked.
“No.”
We finished our beers and left. And that was my first visit to a strip club.
Now the place has been rebuilt into a huge place with signs everywhere advertising it’s a strip club. But I have never been back to the place since my first misguided visit.
Have you ever gone somewhere where you thought was a certain type of business only to learn it was something totally different?

lol It could happen. I wonder how many men have told their wives/girlfriends a similar story when they found out they went to a strip club. "Sorry honey it was an accident."
I can just see the two of you now....too funny.

Quite an eye opener–especially for a couple of farm boys.

By accident
.
Oh my! But I was surprised to read that 2 young men would want to leave so quickly!
Not to that extreme, but a friend and I ventured into a casino we had seen so many times along the freeway - just curious. We were of age for sure . . . but we thought no one would really care if we were there to look . . . probably busy and noisy as Vegas. Walking through the casino, it was filled with mostly Asian men at the tables playing cards . . . and surprisingly it was SO quiet that you literally could hear a pin drop. So many heads and eyes turned our way - as if we weren't supposed to be there . . . we tried to tip toe all the way to the back of the casino and then back to the entrance . . . we were outta there! Ok, not a fun story like yours

I think my friend was totally embarrassed by the whole experience so he wanted to get out of there has fast as he could.
That's strange that the casino was so quit. My brother had a coupon for a any restaurant in the casino in Airway Heights just west of Spokane. So we took our mother there. We walked through the casino and it was very noisy. We past 2 or 3 restaurants because my brother was hell-bent on going to the buffet. The buffet was closed when we got there and I suggest we go to another restaurant–especially when we found out it would be another hour before they open. I was starving and didn't want to wait but he said he wasn't that hungry. As it turned out I think he was because he became very cranky. He jumped all over the woman that was collecting the money at the entrance then got a bit grumpy with the woman who seated use. Once he got some food in his stomach he calmed down.

@RichardMeister I can imagine just how embarrassing it was for him
.
I know - it was very odd for a casino to be that quiet. We don't have casinos locally, so I had no idea what a non-Vegas casino was like. I expected sounds of the slot machines, coins, and people having a good ol' time . . . but it wasn't like that at all . . . in fact everyone looked quite serious and tense. Now that I think of it, I think we may have wanted to check out the buffet too, but it was closed. This was in the middle of the afternoon - I assume the men were all hardcore gamblers.
I sure wouldn't want to wait a whole hour especially if I were starving. Oh man, your brother really wanted that buffet!!

@much2say It was a good buffet, but waiting the hour when we could eat elsewhere was a bit stupid to me. I can't really remember but I think the coupon was $5 off for everyone in the party so we could have gone to any of the restaurants there.

When my husband and I were dating...two of his friends and their girl friends went out for a drink....the bar we were going to had recently changed management. We'd been there for a while when this oddly dressed woman came out and put some money in the juke box.....we were all taken aback when she suddenly started to lose her clothing. The guys tried to disappear under the table...the girls watched in amused fascination. No....we never went back.

@Morleyhunt I wonder how embarrassed the men would have look if there were no women with them.

@RichardMeister it was memorable. Three young men (around 20) looking embarrassed and anywhere but at the stripper. My one any only foray into a strip club.

I don't know what I'd do if I wandered into a guy bar–especially if some guy started hitting on me.

Hmm, not really sure how one accidentally goes to a strip club, but I guess it could happen!

Back then they had no signs saying it was a strip club. It just had a name (I think Tahiti or some such thing). And it just looked like a little dive bar.

Whoever has visited Bangkok you would be advised to watch something similar or even worse. It is not so much the show as the feat that is displayed there.

This was in the early 70s and yes they still have strip shows. I think at one time they tried to run them out but they were unsuccessful.

Yes. At the time I had no idea there was any strip clubs in the area. I had heard about strip clubs on tv but thought they were all in California and New York. So, yes it was my first visit.
