Nothing very exotic but my parents immigrated from Quebec to work in the factories here. I didn't speak English until grade school.

Your parents are a good-looking couple.
And family that has immigrated to North America has usually experienced tough times in Europe before coming over. But the promise of having a better life has lured many families to cross the ocean.
My mother's family came over from Belgium, probably 75 years ago.
My father's family came over from Ireland in 1832, we've been here so long we joke that we should be tax-exempt!

I know my family originated in Belgium, but I don't know when they came here. It's been several generations.
Nice photo of your parents.

The family on my Mother's side(her fatter) came over on the May Flower. My Grandfathers parents hid aboard a ship and came on the ship to the USA. So they were illegals in a way..

Most of my relatives have been in the US for generations. My paternal grandparents were Cajun - their ancestors were thrown out of Canada and moved to the south - LA...
My husband's paternal grandparents came here from Russia.

I can't imagine upping sticks and moving to the other side of the world, especially if I only had a limited grasp of the language. Very brave!

I have a second cousin who is married to an American citizen and has a baby boy. I have no idea what is the situation with them.

If we get to the bottom line, most of us are the offspring of immigrants. Both of my granfathers came from Europe: one from Germany and the other from Croatia. The rest were great grandparents that came to Chile. I have Italian and Spanish blood and if I go back a bit more, maybe a drop of native blood from the Peruvian grandmother who married the Italian greatgrandfather. I was thinking today that if my country hadn´t welcomed them I wouldn´t have been born. And if I was to go back, I would have to be cut into small pieces

My mother came to the US from Canada in the early 1940s, my father's mother came from England in 1890. My husband's father came from Portugal in the 1920s. I am the daughter and granddaughter of immigrants too.

My dad's uncle had it traced. I don't remember quite when our family migrated here, but it was a long, long time ago.
