I'm going to be a stay-at-home wife, mom, grandma...

I'm really going to do it. I'm going to give notice that I will no longer be working for the company that I work part-time for.
I've been having more and more pain in my hip over the past few years, but it is a daily occurrence now. My doctor told me today (after a CT scan) that I will probably need hip replacement surgery. I plan to explore all options before I agree to surgery.
I have enjoyed my job, but life is short and I want to spend more time with my husband and family. I'm thankful we don't need the income, but I enjoyed being around the public and liked doing product demonstrations.
Life is full of surprises, some good, some not so much. But I know God has always had a plan for my life. Wonder what's next?

My Mum had a hip replacement at 99 1/2 and it gave her a new lease of life. I've known many younger people who have had replacements too and all have been really successful. Not saying you should do it but I know of many who wish they'd had it done sooner.

I know that surgeries tend to have a better outcome the younger the patient is, although that's not always the case.

@1creekgirl They tested my mother thoroughly first then decided she was fit and strong enough for the operation.

Thanks, Laurel. I feel really good about the decision. Now we can spend more time with our kids in Charleston SC.

It's best that you take care of yourself first even if you'll miss your job. Hope you don't need hip replacement

I sure hope I don't, but I'm having more pain every day. I'm hoping my doctor will suggest some alternatives.

I feel really good about the decision to quit. There are more important things to me right now. Hope I don't have to have surgery, but if so, I know God will take care of me.

Thank you. I worked for 27 years full-time many years ago and since I retired I have worked part-time at CURVES for WOMEN (I would love to still be there!) and now this job for a couple of years. It was good for me, but it's time to move on!

I will definitely check out other options before having surgery.

I was 56 when I retired from a 27 year career, but have worked off and on part time. Glad you're enjoying your retirement.

My supervisor offered a leave of absence, but I decided that even if I didn't have this hip issue, I want to spend more time with my husband and kids anyway.

@1creekgirl That makes sense Vicki. I hope it gives you peace and less stress for later this week.
