Why are people so gross ? If your child is eating ice cream and gets it all over the shopping carts handle, clean it off ! But what the hell is your child doing eating ice cream anyways while your shopping ? Knowing that the child will definitely get it all over themselves and anything close to its proximity. I could hear the mother telling the child, "Don't make a mess !" "Look at you ! You're all dirty !" Blah, blah, lahdy,da, da . . . SERIOUSLY !? You're going to try to discipline your kid now ? When it all could've been prevented in the first place by NOT giving the child an ice cream ! Then I see a grown adult lady sneeze onto the carts handle ! Oh f@@king EWWWWW ! Why did you not cover your face or turn to the side, there was no one near you ! No attempt what so ever to clean off the handle. Just kept on walking like nothing happened. And I was still standing in the parking lot by my car seeing all this going on. Even the flying gulls from the area would land on the handles and defecate on them. But the one thing that almost made me want to almost dry heave, was when I saw a child inside the store get placed inside the seat of the cart and then the child started to lick the handle ! Like a freaking lollipop ! After the display of germ warfare, I shuddered knowing that I had to get a cart. Thank goodness Target has the sanitary cleaning wipe dispensers by the carts. Basic common courtesy hygiene. . . where did it go ? WHERE !? Photograph- Taken/Owned by me, Plethos

That is all really gross! I carry wipes with me everywhere we go so if there's a kid mess or anything else I can clean up after my kids and I.

@Plethos Sure! I just feel like that's common courtesy. I'm not a germ/health nut or anything but I don't want to invite sickness or nastiness along with us or give it to anyone else either. Lol.

Thats why I always wipe down the carts =) Never know what kinds of germs until you observe the shopping trips! I can't even eat ice cream without making a mess (especially the ones on the stick) ... so I while pushing a kid around eating ice cream, I can only imagine a mess is on its way!

ive been using the wipes a lot more on the carts handles . this past weekend i saw the ultimate in grossness involving a baby. the baby pooped its diaper while sitting on the cart, it was not "solid" waste. two of the store employees, men, were dry heaving and the 3 other employees, ladies, were getting a good laugh at the guys facial expressions. i was about 40 or so feet away and i could smell it and hear the heaving. i was also laughing.

@Plethos It's only natural ~ babies can't control their poo/poop BUT the parents should definitely keep them clean or change the diapers! Some parents don't care what their kids do -_-

@infatuatedbby - this was just a baby being a baby. the child was very happy during all this. the mother was very apologetic and seemed truly embarassed. but the baby was SMILING !

i sometimes think to myself- if they are this dirty in public and with the property of others, then just how unsanitary can they be at home ? does the inside of their home look like a landfill ?

Even using those wipes in the store does not help. Wipe it and the minute you take the cart into the store the germs are all over the cart again.

@Plethos Moms are not good enough, they should teach their kids not to touch or lick anything public.

O. M. G.!!!!! (Why, oh why did I pick this old discussion of yours to look at and respond to, Plethos? You really should post a warning on discussions like this when you write them! GROSS!) (working at keeping my supper where it belongs!) You observed some really sick and disgusting behavior! But observing it yourself wasn't good enough for you? You HAD to come to myLot and tell us about it, too? (You are a nasty man! I'm telling you now, you are lucky I like you! Even more lucky after I read this discussion! ) A few days ago I was talking to a woman about a cell phone she was interested in purchasing. She had (I think.) her granddaughter strapped into the shopping cart seat. I was thinking, what a cute kid, when she grinned at me, looked at granny and LICKED the handle on the cart! I almost lost it right there! I know I lost some of my normal coloring! (Another associate was walking by, looked at me and ask if I was feeling alright because I was white as a sheet!) Granny patted the girl's cheek and told her not to lick the handle. She said she (granny) had to hold the handle to push the cart and she didn't want to put her hands into saliva on the handle... but didn't wipe the handle or say anything when the little girl did it again! I excused myself, ask another associate to wait on granny and the little germ bag, went to the bathroom and threw up! (That part all happened really fast! It probably took longer for me to type that sentence that it did for the sequence to take place! not a joke, either!) I can give you another disgusting verbal image, if you are feeling froggy, Plethos! *Warning! Do not read the rest of this if you have a weak stomach!* About a month ago I was walking around the counter in the Connection Center when I noticed someone had spilled/dropped chili on the floor. (Or so I thought at the time.) I stepped past the spill and called maintenance to come with a mop bucket. Then stepped back around to keep anyone from stepping in the mess or driving a shopping cart through it. It seemed to take the maintenance associate a long time to get to me, but I figured he had come across another problem he needed to take care of first. (He had, sorta.) When he finally reached me, he said he had wondered where the trail had started at... I looked at him and ask what he was talking about... He told me someone's kid had filled its diaper and overflowed it, leaving a trail with a few skips in the trail. The parent noticed a problem when he saw his kid licking "chili" off its hands and wondered where the chili came from! I almost barfed right then and there! I now am very careful if/when asking for clarification when dealing with things in Walmart!!! I just don't need to know everything people see/do there!! (sorta grinning sickly at you!) I think I will need to be a bit more careful jumping into one of your discussions, from now on!!!

Humans are very strange. They make a mess everywhere and think someone else will clean it up.

I always carry wet wipes and hand sanitizer with me for that very reason. I wish there are those dispensers here though! Apparently hygiene isn't common sense to some people.

They say we can pick up the most germs from door knobs and bathrooms in public places. I wonder how it was in the days when public phone booths were in use?
