I heard on the radio news this morning that The Exalted Orange One has decided to welch on a deal the US made with Australia to take in 1,250 refugees currently living in squalid conditions on an island in Papua New Guinea The deal was inked before the November election.
TEOO is reported to have accused Prime Minister Turnbull of trying to send the US "the Next Boston Bomber." The Exalted Orange One is also said to have bragged to PM Turnbull about all the other world leaders he'd talked to that day, and to have told Turnbull that talking to him was TEOO's worst call of that day.
Do you think Trump deliberately tries to alienate our allies, or is he just too clueless about diplomacy to realize what he's doing?

I do not think Trump puts much thought into anything. He is a reactionary guy. It is all about him and never about how something would impact other people when he does put thought into something.

On Facebook, a Trump supporter I don't know proclaimed him "the greatest president ever."
I responded (to the best I can recall) something along the lines of, "Whether he will be the greatest president or not, time will tell. However, I believe your comment was based on partisan loyalty rather than any objective analysis of events."
Trump support response (not paraphrased): BLAH, BLAH and BLAH.
I did not bother responding. I mean, I guess she told me...

I am not sure that he knows what diplomacy means : he has fired all ambassadors and told to more than 1000 diplomats who signed a dissent memo about his ban executive order that they should get with the program or go.
What is weird is that Australia is one of the only advanced countries which has not condemned his ban...
He has already compromised the relations of the USA with Mexico and with the EU and made China angry. It is not like this that he will make America great.

I think he's brainless. I still don't understand how he got elected.. although I personally don't think we had any decent candidates running in the last election... I guess the same could be said of most of the past elections..

@DWDavis See.. I actually voted for that Johnson guy.. not because I agreed with him or because I wanted him to win.. but because I really didn't want to vote for either of the other 2.

@katsmeow1213 I voted for Johnson because I believed in more of his platform than TEOO or Hillary. I knew he wouldn't win, but if all the folks who said they were going to vote 3rd party actually had, things might have turned out differently.

In 2016 the two major parties gave us a choice between two awful, horribly unpopular candidates. Some people I know, regardless of which one of the two they voted for, told me they voted for the lesser of two evils. I pointed out that they were still voting for evil.

I hope he does not carry out everything that he does like he did with the Australian fella. That is just what I hope. Meanwhile I feel for the people that live in those conditions too.

His Character seems to be speak now think later very abrupt sometimes. Just when I can seem to make sense of him off he goes the other way.

@lovinangelsinstead21 The Exalted Orange One believes every word he says, even when what he says is the exact opposite of what he just said a minute, hour, or day ago.

This is big news here of course. We heard Trump hung up on Turnbull. Turnbull has always been very diplomatic and is still refusing to bad mouth him. It would be nice to tell Trump where to go but if we ever needed help in a protective sense we'd be looking to America - but while Trump's in charge that would probably be a cry in the dark too.

I guess Australia will get closer to China than US in the future.
At least, China is more diplomatic in its dealings with other countries.
When China wants to show its displeasure towards a country, it will show in a very different way.
A while back, our armoured troop carriers were held in Hong Kong after a military exercise in Taiwan.
That is China's way of telling us that any relationship with Taiwan is not welcomed, though China officially denied anything to do with it.

This guy is way in over his head. I equate it to a newly hired NFL coach that just isn't ready. But his legion of hateful, uneducated voters probably already have their fists in the air in support.

I still shake my head in wonder at those who can't figure out why most of America seems to be against him. He lost the overall popular vote by 10,000,000 votes counting those that went to 3rd Party and Hillary. Even though he won the Electoral College, he didn't win with the people. The popular vote may not count when it comes to winning, but it means something when it's time to govern.

@teamfreak16 I refer to Trump either simply as Trump, or as The Exalted Orange One. I like Jekka's name for him, too - Trumpkin.

@DWDavis - And yet his massive ego refuses to accept that he lost the popular vote. I hate this guy. Always have. I will never use his official title. Ever. I even referred to W as President Bush, and I couldn't stand him. This guy? Never.

From what Turnbull said Trump did not hang up on him, and that the call was a“frank discussion” that had ended “courteously”. .....Turnbull said Trump had given him a commitment to the refugee resettlement deal which had been “confirmed several times since”..

Two students who are permanent residents and students at Dartmouth (I believe I heard) were also stopped from returning from a conference overseas because they were born in one of the banned countries. Last news was, they'd finally been cleared to go back to school.

I don't know if you remember but I flippantly claimed on a post of yours last year that I would laugh so much if he got in and somesuch. I genuinely didnt think he would win! Well, it was amusing at first, but now it's not very amusing at all. I actually check my BBC News app first thing every morning to check he hasn't declared war on anyone. I read his tweets and wonder why America voted in such an unhinged toddler to be their President!

I'll have to look up that post and remind myself of your comment. It still bothers me that he was able to hornswoggle so many people into voting for him, though I shouldn't have been. There was this guy in the early 1930s who mesmerized an entire nation and convinced them to go to war to help make their country great again.

@Poppylicious The fact is, 10,000,000 more people who voted, voted against Trump than for him. Almost 60% of Americans who voted didn't want The Exalted Orange One to be our President. And 117,000,000 who could have voted didn't bother. Those 117,000,000 are the real problem.

@DWDavis And I find this really weird. It seems that most of the American folk I know didn't vote for Trump. There's a couple I'm not sure about {one has a daughter called Reagan... not sure if that's a clue!} but I also know a very intelligent couple who are very pro-Trump. I don't understand how they can't see the parallels with the 1930s, more so because they both have very recent German ancestry.

The latter since he was a businessman before he got into politics. It is like asking me to write a script for a super hero cartoon based on the old school ideas I have but the studio wanted to do an update version of their characters which is out of my league.

He is in bed with Russia and that country ain't a saint either. Is it possible for Trump to lead a coupe? He certainly is fond of wars and World war 3 might as well become our reality if it continues like this.

We here in the States are going to have to be vigilant to prevent him from doing so. He's already challenging the power of the courts by ignoring the 4 federal court orders against his Muslim Ban. I worry that his next move will be to try to by-pass Congress and "rule" by Executive Order.

He really does his best to hurt America interest.
Australia stood by him when many other countries were criticizing him about the travel ban on Muslims from the 7 countries, yet he hang up on Turnbull.
I think this act will cost US companies in Australia a lot of money.
Australians will not likely to buy US goods given a choice.
If that is the way Trump treats allies of US, US will not have any ally other than Russia left.

Trump isn't making any new laws, he's just enforcing the ones that we already have. As far as the vetting of illegal immigrants is concerned, it was o.k. for other Presidents, but NOT o.k. by Trump? Just sayin'....

We already had extreme vetting. 18 to 24 months and one simple mistake sends you to the back of the line is pretty extreme. Trump banned any refugees from only certain countries, where he has no business interests, but if they are Christian, they can be fast-tracked. That wasn't existing law.
He also fired the Acting Attorney General for doing the right thing because his ban was not properly vetted itself. It was written by Bannon, who has no actual authority and whose appointment to the NSC has not been voted on by the Senate, as required by law.
Other Presidents did not make a practice of cozying up to dictators like Putin while alienating and threatening our neighbors and friends like Australia and Mexico, while antagonizing the largest country on Earth with empty threats.

I think TEOO (sadly, your president now) does not know the words - - subtle and finesse. He is so "unpresidented" Unprecedented is now unpresidented according to TEOO.
