Impromptu Super Bowl Party!

For the past 15 or 16 years, we have some friends who have always invited us to their Super Bowl party. This year, the hostess sent out an email late last night saying that she had a bad case of the flu, did not want to expose anyone, so she would have to cancel. My husband and I decided we could have it at our house, instead. We invited everyone to our house, but with so little notice, we are keeping it simple. We ordered an assortment of pizzas from our local favorite little custom pizza shop, my husband is making guacamole to serve with chips, we bought some candy, and picked up a variety of beverages. Our friends are bringing salads, a veggie tray, pies and a few other treats. It should be fun! Have you ever had to pull together a party on the spur-of-the-moment?

There were three major parties that I would throw every year, but they weren't impromptu. I put a lot of planning into them. The first was a Super Bowl party. The second was a Halloween party. And the third was my infamous "day after Christmas party." My parties weren't a success if the cops didn't show up to shut us down from all the noise, traffic, and people! lol These days, I don't party like I used to, but I still have small gatherings every now and then.

@DeborahDiane Let's just say I would have been seriously disappointed if the cops DIDN'T show up to one of my epic parties! haha

Your food choice sounds good. I had to pull together a party at the last minute many times. My husband used to call me at the last minute to inform that he was coming home with "a few" friends because they had to continue to discuss a business matter, to prepare food for everyone.

@LadyDuck - I'm sure you were an excellent hostess whenever this happened. Our party just ended about an hour ago, and everything turned out well. People brought more food than I expected. We had so much, I called one of our daughters and invited her to stop by and pick up some of the leftovers for her and her teenage children. It was great for everyone.

@DeborahDiane I am glad that your party has been a success, but I was sure you would have arranged something great for everyone.

@LadyDuck - We had a lot of fun and the football game turned out to be very close and exciting, so we all enjoyed it.

I am not really a party kind of person. But I do plan things at the last minute with a couple of friends.

You won't need more than what you've already thought of. Your friends are coming to enjoy the game and the company. Really, the food is a bonus.

@JudyEv - We still have leftovers. That is what my husband and I had for dinner. I think they are pretty much finished now, though.
