250 miles and 8 hours later we are home

Last night I shared a bed with my son. My nephew gave up his bed to let us sleep there. He slept in a sleeping bag on the floor on the right side of the bed and my daughter and my niece slept in a sleeping bag on the floor on the left side of the bed. They all thought it was fun like a big slumber party. This morning I got up and figured out their coffee pot and make some coffee. My brother in law had some of mine but he typically is not much of a coffee drinker. My brother in law and sister in law made a big breakfast for everyone... Fresh fruit, yogurt, ham, fried potatoes and onions. It was delicious. We left around 11 am. A half an hour down the road I was feeling very tired and stopped at Sheetz for a Cappuccino. We stopped at McDonalds for lunch at 1 pm. Since gas was cheap I filled my tank back up ( it took half a tank to get to my brother in laws on the way down) at the gas station nearby. About an hour down the road we stopped at a gas station so my son could use the restroom. An hour from home we stopped at Aldi's and Walmart for groceries. Since my kids behaved so well on the trip I bought them each a milkshake at McDonalds to drink on the way home. I made dinner and put all the groceries away. My kids are heading to bed now and I want to catch up at mylot and read. I plan to shower and go to bed earlier tonight as I am very tired.

I don't have to much left to catch up on here at mylot so I am hoping to finish all the notifications soon so I can concentrate just on reading tonight after my kids go to bed.

I imagine you were exhausted from the party, excitement, long drive, and all the stops. Welcome home!

It feels good time home but I wish I had an extra day to relax instead of having to go right back to the cyber schooling. Monday's are so rough with him but thankfully today has gone so much better!

@DianneN I called yesterday to switch his insurance to what most doctors around here accept. This will be good but unfortunately it won't go into effect with the new insurance until March 1st so I have to wait until then to call and find a doctor for him that will then hopefully accept him. The results from his blood work should be in today or tomorrow so at least we will know that!

There is no way my kids would give up their beds to let someone else sleep in the way my nephew did. My niece and nephew are such nice kids.

I was happy they behaved as well as they did on the way down, while we were there, and on the way back. My son usually cries a lot but he only did for a few minutes each day that was a huge relief. I am glad to be home relaxing. I am almost done catching up on my notifications here at mylot. My kids are going to bed and I plan to sit and read until I get sleepy.

I do not mind so much as long as I don't have to drive but I almost always do the driving and I am a very nervous driver.

Tired? You should be exhausted. I'm sure it must have seemed a long way home.

I am so tired that I just realized I made a typo. It was only 250 miles on the way home. When I looked at the speedometer it said 500 miles and I forget that counted the way down and way home.

Long trips often take a toll on the mind and body. Even if you travel often and are accustomed to long trips for me short or long trip the effect is almost the same draining in ways but well worth the exhaustion if you achieve having a good time.

I was thinking about that today how strange it is that we just sit while we are driving but it is so tiring. I think my nerves cause a lot of mine.

The cappuccino was what I splurged on for myself to help keep me awake while driving.

I am happy that your trip was enjoyable and incident free. That was a lot of driving - you must be tired.

I slept well after the days I drove a lot. It is strange how driving can make is tired when we are just sitting there!
