Would you like to be the judge please?

Vince loves his photography and now belongs to a number of photographic groups. Some I guess are Facebook based but maybe not all. I'm not too sure. One is concerned with landscapes and Vince recently put this one up on the site.
While I like it, I think he has 'fiddled' too much with it so to me it no longer looks like a photograph but more like a painting. He says he has only brightened it a little, blah, blah. To me, there is a very fine line between enhancing a photo a little and changing it dramatically.
So, my question is, does this look real to you or or do you prefer a more natural look? Certainly this is much more dramatic and is not too far from what we saw on the day. As I said, to me it's a fine line.

@Kandae11 I don't like that either. And it's not just the air-brushing. They can do all sorts of incredible things now to change a face. Sometimes it's a good thing. Vince had a casual shot of four elderly people but one had a huge nasty black sore on his upper lip which really stood out in the photo. Vince was able to just reduce it a little and lighten it off so it didn't look so bad. He didn't remove it all together, not without permission, but it did make it look quite a bit better.

I love natural when it comes to nature. I love to see it beauty through photos. I only live those kind of dramatic photos in postcards and books. It reminds me of the old beautiful abundance living of the old century when everything is not yet invaded with electronic gadgets.
God bless.

If you could post the original then we can make comparisons. I agree with you it is slightly over done.

@JudyEv That bluish tinge on the trunk of the tree (in the original photo) was it touched or natural?

@allknowing The original is straight out of the camera. The trees were really beautiful.

It is a beautiful piece of art! When I first saw it I wondered if it was really a photograph as it is a bit unreal. Now I know why.

@JudyEv I just saw it. It is an amazing picture but it looks as if it's not real.

I am not a pro - but I think it looks like a painting, a pretty painting.

@JudyEv If that's the look he's going for then he did a good job.

it's a nice photo... but I think he may have tweaked it too much for my taste... I would like to have seen the original...but it is a lovely landscape and just begging to be photographed....

i love the photo. I do like to edit my photos and play with my editing programs, unfortunately using a Mac now, the options are not that great. I've found only one program to use and it doesn't suit my eyes...Do you use a Mac and if yes, ask him for suggestions for editing programs for me..

@PainsOnSlate This is an online group. He is in five or six now and they post photos on different themes then comment/criticise/praise whatever. Let me know if you'd like a link or three.

Glad you like the photo. No, we don't have Macs so I can't help you. Vince was using Lightshop (or is it Photoshop?) but I think he has paid for a different program now which is slightly better. He has just joined a very professional group that is only interested in portraits and they slated the first one he put up. Once he picked himself up off the floor, he decided it was a good thing as he'll learn a lot there.

The picture is nice, however, I am getting a feeling that it has been overdone and that way the picture does not look like a natural picture. It is better not to edit the picture or tinker with its elements too much.

Yeah, you're right! This looks more artistic kind of a picture. Looks nice though.. sometimes, we will have to maintain the originality of the photo by just working on just few shades..

Yes, that's right. There is a bit too much alteration I think.
