@amitkokiladitya I haven't decided yet, but I would like one that is easy to train.

Yes, the more hair the more care and grooming will have to be done. Do you have any breed in mind?

a shaggy dog is nice, but if you think of the grooming, i would prefer to have a dog that is plain. we have many dogs; 4 are puppies while we have 7 grown-up dogs, all fluffy and furry

@Kandae11 yes indeed. their furs have to be blown-dry after every bath, while those with 'less fur can dry themselves up with constant wiggling and shaking

I think you're right - longer hair breeds take more upkeep and dog haircuts can be expensive. I would check with some groomers - pricing, before you get the dog - just to be sure it doesn't get to be too much to deal with.

I love all dogs. Mine has long hair and I have to keep a razor handy for knots and brush her often.

It is more about caring for a dog with lot of fur than expenditure.

I don't know. But once you get to love a pet it doesn't matter. We don't have pets at home for 26 years, but when my dad brought a cat in our home we never think of anything we just learned to smile at him and laugh at him with his stupid tricks and learned to live him, even though at first W e need to wipe the floor as he pee and poop. But he get smarter as he gets older. But after y years of living with us we lost him for good.

Get the kind of dog that you want. A short hair dog might be best for you.

Shaggy dogs will require more grooming and brushing that a shorter hair dog. We have two dogs that don't shed much and don't bother my daughters allergies. Both are on the smaller side

I don't know that they would be more costly but they are probably a bit more difficult to maintain what with brushing, being kept clean, etc. There are lots of 'dog people' on here who will be able to add more.

Yes.. Tbey need a bath regularly.. With a very good quality shampoo.. But then you have to take care of every dog the same way.. Train them and stuff. My la dlady owns a shaggydog.. Its breed is lhasa apso.. It's great to play with him though.. Shaggydogs are really cute!
