Four years ago, the son took off from my care and lived somewhere. I was worried at first but he has a job and I prayed that he'll get on with himself.
To cut the story short, he's got his life sorted out, bought a brand new car and a brand new apartment. We have patched our relationship big time too.
Now, he comes and have breakfast with me once a week at least, he was here this morning and I treasure these times.
I'm happy for the man he's become and I'm happier that we have a good relationship now.
He doesn't have a girlfriend yet, he became a world traveler on his own, spent 3 months touring South America last year.
Do you have a son? Are you happy with your relationship so far?

@vickyrose I know that my parents would have loved to have grandkids, but they understood our points. We worked together, we traveled together and we did not want our kids to be grown by "others".

We feel a lot better when we don't see often times our loved one and they just appear that they miss us more that we do.

I have two sons and we have a strong relationships. My oldest turns 25 tomorrow and lives several hundred miles and several states away now. My youngest turns 21 next week and is a junior in college at a school about an hour away from home. He lives in the dorm as an resident assistant, plus he's on a research team, and with his other activities he doesn't come home very often. I miss not having them around, but am very proud of the young men they've become.

Yes they do, the sooner that they learn to be self sufficient and independent, the better for everyone.

I'm glad, nothing like a great relationship with our children.

I am happy that he saw the best way is to do good and mend his relationship with you. It turned out good and I am happy for the both of you. It sounds like he turned out fine.
