You are probably thinking that it goes without saying that breathing is important since it keeps us alive. However, I am talking about conscious breathing, not just the automatic breathing we do. As a child I remember my dad doing 2 main exercises, walking and deep breathing. I used to think it was so funny when he would stand outside for what seemed like hours, breathing in an out. In my adult life I learned the benefits of exhaling and inhaling actively. The practice of breathing has served to relax me during the most stressful times in my life. But breathing is also important and beneficial for the proper working and maintenance of your lungs. Deep breathing increases the oxygen in our lungs and in so doing improves the quality of our blood. Our skin, circulation, nervous system and glands all benefit greatly from active breathing. Do you breathe?

Whenever there is a short of breathing, I do inhale and enhale. It is good for breathing exercise.

Meditation is key. It helps me with my writing and helped brought back my muse in November 2015.

This is good advice. Occasionally I deep breathe but I'm sure I'd benefit if I did it more often.

One reason I enjoy yoga so much. Good breathing and some yoga stances and you feel like a million.
