How to Catch a Whale -
It is all very, very simple. To catch a whale, you take at least one little kid to the nearest fishing hole - kind of like we did this morning over near our new place in Magnolia.
So, the pond may be rather on the small side and quite muddy, but any kid you come upon will tell you that such places are exactly the kinds of places that sensible whales inhabit.
Toss in the fishing line baited with a worm on a hook, wait a few minutes, and pull out a whale.
The photos tell the story quite adequately.

@LadyDuck - Ms Anna - Little Adelina captured 4 of those whales and tossed them all back into the water. She was really surprised at how fast they swam away. In the meantime3, her father caught but one single whale. Interesting day.
The "tribe" all showed up midday. They all bugged out for the park, the swimming pool, and the recreation center - and some of the braver ones even swam in that big pool even though it is but mid-February. I believe that this new place in the boonies is some sort of people magnet.
Very nice.

I think it was Groucho Marx who once said, "How do you get the backbone out of a fish, tell him that there's a shark in the vicinity". I remembered that joke when I read the title of your post.

@flpoolbum - That's a pretty good method for getting backbones out of fish. -Gus-

That explains the shortage of whales in ponds!

@allen0187 - A great comment that fits right into the "tiny whale" theory. -Gus-
