We are having a lot of wind and a rather chilly day today. My daughter made a pot of potato soup with lots of onions in it. I love anything potato so this is so delicious. With some several grains wheat bread to go with it. Yum! So, what's for dinner at your house?

My son makes a delicious potato soup that also has sausage in it. Lovely, rich, and just the right amount of spice.

That sounds really good Celtic. We had some grilled chicken with salad with blue cheese dressing. It was not enough, I always have so little meat. It is too expensive even chicken nowadays. I also had some cheez its as a snack afterwards.

We usually eat a lot of hamburger but the stuff we get across the street is horrible. Cami did win some of organic grass fed hamburger from there and we will eat it tonight. Hope it is edible. Chez Itz eh? Haven't had those in a long time.

@TiarasOceanView ......It sure was. And the meat is very good. I hope it isn't overly expensive and we can start getting that. The other Albertson's brand is horrible. like the dregs of the leftovers from other cuts or something. Gristle and yuck.

I'll take some of that soup if you have any left in the fridge. I actually had cream of potato soup at work the other day made by Campbells, lol. Tonight I had leftover port chops which were cooked with sauerkraut. Mmm, mmm good. I also had a few smashed potatoes with it. Then I followed it with a large helping of strawberry rhubarb pie ice cream. I'm thinking it's mostly strawberry ice cream, but it's good too.

No, it goes pretty quickly. It's easy to make though. I have not had that pie in a long time. It's hard to find around here. Huckleberries are much more common.

@celticeagle Until you mentioned huckleberries recently, I never knew they existed somewhere in America still. In fact, I'm not sure that I knew it was an actual berry.

We have my niece who I call "The littlest one" despite the fact that she is now ten years old! We had burger king because she was here. So I had chicken nuggets and french fries. We also got ourselves a treat of Zach's, which is a chain of frozen yogurt shops. Strawberry Cheesecake hit the spot. I do love potato soup myself. My favorite type of potato dish is "syrupy potatoes' you make a roux with flour and water, boil the potatoes until tender, leaving a little under half the water in the pot, then add the roux and stir to simmering. It's yummy and my great grandmother' recipe.

@celticeagle It's been awhile since I've had Au Gratin. I know that they are cheesy but I didn't remember it being a roux so much as just a dusting of powdered cheese over crusty potatoes? Like I said, it's been quite awhile since I've had them so I might be getting them mixed up with something else.

Go daughter! I made potato/mushroom chowder last night. Kind of gravy like. Yum. Tonight? Lentils, asparagus, rice and peas frozen business that we bought on sale. Pretty good and filling. I was ready to be filled!

That does sound yummy. I was thinking about clam chowder earlier...it is quite warm here though..not really a soup kind of day even though it is February. I had hot dogs and sauerkraut. Maybe if it should turn cooler at some point..I will have my clam chowder.

We enjoy potato soup, but ours might be different than others make. Some recipes contain dairy and ours does not.
