Rainy Mood Monday

Dineo has arrived and there has been winds, rains and plenty of destruction all of the east side of our country as Dineo leaves its mark. News reports say: "South Africans can breathe a sigh of relief as Tropical Depression, Dineo, departs for neighbouring countries." Weather is a strange thing, Sunny and happy one day and Wet and depressing another. I remember a day wet at this, walking the gardens of Versailles and thinking how absolutely marvelous the rain was and a blessing to any gardens such as those. I share a little youtube with you of my day at Versailles in the rain. It started to rain yesterday afternoon with no chance of any break in the wet weather for at least 3 days . . . we might wash all the way down to Australia if this continues. https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=qTr-U_Lf3jU I truly hope your Monday will be a good one regardless of the weather.

I loved the video and the music it brought back lovely memories. It is a shame the fountains were not working. They only put them on at the weekends. I have never actually managed to look around Versailles completely. One would need to spend at least two days there I should imagine. I will forgo the Kings apartments on my next visit and just to the gardens Grand and Petit Trianons and Marie Antoinette's village.

In the video was a few photos of Marie Antoinette's village where her mother and friends would stay when they visited. Quite a strange set up. We were lucky to hire a golf Cart and take the whole day to see the gardens with a tour-guide audio that assisted us. My girls and I have spoken to so many people that did not get to see it all - we were very lucky - and even in the rain the Gardens were magnificent! Now I know why they beheaded them - they spent far too much money on the gardens for sure!

@Inlemay There is a similar palace in Italy just outside Naples. It is not very well known but it is bigger than Versailles the King who it was built for never actually spent one night there because just before it was finished he decided to take the throne of Spain instead. Sadly the Italians do not keep the upkeep of this building very well as other countries do. So sad!

The value of rain depends on the scarcity or abundance in the place concerned. Britain gets far too much while many countries are desperate for rain.

we are desperate at the moment and our catchment area's have been blessed with this rain, however there are still places that havent got and others that are flooding a little.

You brought back a lot of memories with your video, I visited Versailles twice in January many years ago.

It's surely not uncommon to get rain in the Paris area. I think that I had at least one day of rain every time we have been to Paris. It's not something I appreciate.
