Going out for dinner

Tonight we are going to Balingup, Western Australia, to attend a dinner. Vince attends a Men's Shed meeting there once a month but tonight is 'Ladies Night' so wives and partners are invited to attend and share a meal. Younger friends are picking us up which is great. Neither of us will have to drive and we'll both be able to have a wine with our meal. Although we don't believe we drink to excess it takes very little to put a person over the 0.05 which is the legal limit.
We were going to take these friends as they have been to Perth and back today so must be feeling a bit tired. But they insist that they are okay to drive. I'm not sure that they haven't made us their 'project' as their parents have passed on. They do seem to look after us to quite a degree. Or maybe they just don't trust our driving. Anyway it should be an enjoyable night.
The photo is of some fungus that we saw in Ireland.

Well, how do you feel about being their "project" so to speak?

@stbrians I don't know that I would be happy about it, but I'd abide by it for awhile atleast.

@stbrians @ScribbledAdNauseum We had the husband stay with us for a few months before they built here so there has been give and take on both sides. We also take them places from time to time but it does seem they are being sure to do their share now.

@JudyEv Perhaps as a means to "thank you" then.

The 'Men's Shed' gave me the shivers a little, it reminded me of 'The Stepford Wives' and the men's club! Perhaps you have seen the film and also there was a book. The film was not quite true to the book. The horror of the story was the things that the men plotted in their club to 'improve' their wives...

@JudyEv Nowthat is a nice idea, if I could change mine a little bit I would make him less tidy. In other words a little less perfect....

@41CombedaleRoad Now that's interesting. I know some men are very meticulous. I wonder if we could 'blend' our husbands and each get something in the middle.
I wouldn't mind a husband just a tad tidier.

Men's sheds started up as support groups mainly for Vietnam vets where men can get together and, hopefully, talk about health issues, etc. Many have a well-equipped workshop where the men can create bits and pieces. The one Vince goes too mostly meet to listen to guest speakers.

@Jessicalynnt They are very popular here. Like the US, we have many damaged veterans. I think they have Men's Sheds there too.

Hope you will have a great time tonight. However, you talking about goodies, chocolates and food in your discussions make me feel more hungry.

It was very pleasant thanks. We sat with some people we didn't know well and got to know them better so that was cool. :)

Plans for today include an outing for my father.
One thing he has missed has Ben some of his comfort foods....traditional Dutch meals.....
I'm driving out this morning and bringing him home. We will have our large meal at lunch....something he loves and then @Platespinner who is visiting, will take him back to his senior's residence in the afternoon. We both hope he enjoys the change of scenery.

I'm sure your Dad will enjoy spending time with his daughters. My Mum used to love to get out of the nursing home for a while.

I have never seen fungus like that. Almost looks like orange peels.
