High School marching bands are quite common in the US. They ar much more of a rarity in Canada. Locally we Yale a youth community marching band, the Burlington Teen Tour Band. This is the oldest teen marching band in Canada. They were formed in 1947 and have been performing ever since. They begin with youngsters, preteens, who are known as the Redcoats.....trainees for the band. Everyone who has seen this marching band perform has comments on their neat appearance, their precision marching and their stellar performances. They have played around the world, they have performed for royalty. In 2015 they went to the Netherlands to march in the liberation day parades. November 2016 they were the only non US band to participate in the Pearl Harbour parade and ceremonies. January 2018 they will be marching in the tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena California. I'm the proud grandmother of just one of these talented and dedicated teens.
Burlington Teen Tour Band, playing after opening the Burlington Garden in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. The BTTB performs great for the 70 years of Libetation ...

Awesome video. They are outstanding and their uniforms are very Canadian. We have no marching bands in this area aside from the military ones. They are great to watch too. I am sure The Burlington Teen Tour Band will make Canada proud when they march in the Tournament of Roses Parade.

This band was chosen to film a Stephen King movie in Toronto this summer. When they showed up in uniform they were told they looked too Canadian. The film company then rented other uniforms for the band to wear.

I believe I've seen them marching... My sister was in her University Band (in the states) and traveled everywhere with them even Europe.

Locally they march in a lot of parades. The Grimsby Santa Claus parade, the Kitchener Octoberfest parade....Woodstock, Toronto, Niagara on the Lake are just a few. Around Christmas they often will arch in two parades on the same day.

I love a marching band, but like you stated, there are not a lot in Canada. The clip that you've included is interesting, not having a lot of exposure to marching bands-there are none in our area to the best of my knowledge. I can see why you're a proud grandmother, I would be too!

There are not many high school marching bands in Canada. This group of young teens are a very dedicated bunch. Their families too spend a lot of time taking these young men and women to practices and performances.

My granddaughter is also in a marching band and it's wonderful to watch. Her band travels too and will be going to Arizona next semester. It amazes me how these kids train and learn all the routines and can remember it all. I'm sure you're excited for you grandchild to be coming to the US for the tournament of Roses Parade. That's quite a big ordeal. From one proud grandmother to another

I wish I could go to watch, but it's not in our budget. We'll be watching the parade on television.

I enjoyed the video and know how hard they work. The conductor standing on the rock was so good and cute!

The challenge was choosing a clip that wasn't really long. Most people aren't willing to watch a long clip. This one was taken when they were in holland for the liberation day celebrations.

@Morleyhunt I enjoy videos if they aren't too long. This was perfect.

They certainly look very striking with their red coats. And I think Canada has one of the nicest flags around - after Australia!

It certainly is distinct. We've also learned not to take life too seriously....the number of times Americans have displayed our flag......upside down.

@Morleyhunt When we had a Canadian group, the Bombadils, appear here we bought a Canadian flag and were able to use it a second time when The Who came.

i like to watch a band with the members playing tricks on their instruments, shades of the movie DRUMS starring the ex-husband of Mariah Carey

The highschool I attended had a good marching band....nothing that compared to this band though. The precision this group shows.
