There are so many things we take for granted in our ways of living and eating.

Today, while talking to my best friend here, I came across two things that were normal for me yet not at all normal for her.
First she asked if my friend Dixie was chilean. She thought that there would not be many people with that name in my country. I know that her name omes from the Latin.
But then I remembered that the year that President Kennedy died, a lot of baboes, specially low class babies, were named Jackeline, John John or even Jon Jon if they didn´t know how to spell it.
Then I told her that I had bought charqui (dry salted meat) at the farner´s market. Claudia had bought a not so good one because it was beef charqui. I got the real one: horse charqui. In my country, horse meat can be sold.
I know that there are lots of food we eat in our countries and that they don´t eat it in others.
What do you eat that you think might not be eaten elsewhere?

I have never had crocodile, buffalo, emu and much less kangaroo.
In my country, guinea pigs are not eaten. But just across the border, in Perú, they eat them. I tried it once and it was as good as rabbit meat.

@marguicha I did know about guinea pigs being eaten. I think sometimes they have lots of them in cellars.
