Costco is a membership store with many bulk products. The store can save you money when you have a large family. Many years ago we had a membership for a year because we received a discount at the time.
Now the fee is going up in Canada and the United States. The last time the fee went up was 2011. Gold Star will go up June 1 by $5.00 to $60 and Executive up $10 to $120.
Walmart the biggest brick and Mortar and Costco is number 2. Do you think the store will stay number 2? Will you pay the additional fee?

I have never been in a Costco store. If I need to pay a membership fee to shop in a store I need to drive 40 km (25 miles) to buy bulk.....I can usually find the stuff locally in smaller quantities for a similar price. I am very frugal and don't have endless storage space. Nor do I need supersize anything at this time.

I don't need supersize either, so not going to join now. I'm sure there will be many people that live close enough to the store that they will pay the increased fee.

@Morleyhunt That is a great way to save money. I think more people may use the card that way, so more people benefit from a card.

I agree its not worth it for two people. My husband and I don't need a bulk membership. One of my neighbors has a membership and I don't think she is renewing, as she thinks she has a life time supply of several items. Her spare bedroom is full.

@Fishmomma I buy some items, like toilet paper, soap and so on, when they are for sale, I never pay the full price for most items.

@Fishmomma We receive the coupons by regular mail and the three major supermarkets send a weekly newsletter with all the products that are on promotion for the week.
