Diary Wednesday 1st March 2017 My overdue money from yesterday finally went through today, just in time to stop my direct debit outgoing payments pushing me into the red. I had to rush round paying other bills too, which I normally split between the end of the previous month and the start of the current one. I skipped the job search activity to attend a voluntary work keynote meeting of some health and wellbeing groups associated with and affiliated with the university though I as only there as an observer. I did get to mention our film festival project as few of us involved in that were in attendance. I sent off some book reviews I have done of some books sent to me by post from a publishing group. They may send me more in the next few months. They were very good books this quarter. Diary Thursday 2nd March 2017 I went to the job club today, which was pleasant though I found no good job leads at all. Diary Friday 3rd March 2017 My first welfare hearing this month, and never a happy experience for me. I arrived nice and early at the offices to find out my usual advisor as off ill. A lady sitting in for him interrogated me like I was a crime suspect. She asked me hat kind of work I as looking for even after reading my complete catalogue of job searches completed since my last hearing (I have to produce these as part of my claim). I told her I am looking for warehousing and call centre work. She insisted that there is lots of such work out there as if I could just pluck jobs from trees at any time, and demanded to know why I get no interviews despite as I told her, few companies even replying to my applications at all. I presented her with print outs of the e-mails I sent out for jobs over one day and she finally let me go. I checked my bank details and discovered that Amazon Prime had charged me for a subscription I had specifically turned down when offered it during an ordinary Amazon book purchase last month. I got assurances the money will be reimbursed within eight days. Very annoying. Diary Saturday 4th March 2017 A quiet day so I just did some essential food shopping while the weather was nicer than usual, and turned the heating off. I have a heap of old coins, some of which a friend assures me may be of a little value, so I have contacted a professional coin dealer about possibly selling them, but he looked at the photos and dismissed them as of no value. Very disappointing. I contacted my friend who thinks he might be able to help me sell them. The photo is of one of the coins. Arthur Chappell

What an obnoxious-sounding 'civil' servant. Does she not take your age into account? Would she like to interrogate the companies as to why they fail to offer interviews? Amazon do seem to refund the Prime subscriptions they take almost by inertia selling without any trouble.

@asfarasiknow they just shouldn't take it in the first place - got to wait for its return now - glad I don't have to see that welfare lady every visit

@arthurchappell More like hell-fare. Vistaprint were doing a similar thing to Amazon. People ordering cheap business cards found they were signed up to some discount club charging nearly £40 a month and then had to get the money back.

@arthurchappell - Some people are just like that. Sad, but true.

I wish you luck on selling the coins. I sold a few of some my mom had saved over the years. She had a $20 gold piece that my grandpa had given her when she a youngster.

@Jessicalynnt it won't be a lot but every penny counts just now and they are just sitting here - someone might as well enjoy them

About the coins you never know. I think it is not enough just to see a photo of them. My dad had a bunch of coins saved and even some stamp. I want to find an antique or such dealer who knows coins and stamps and go to them for them to have a look and see if there might be some value. I think you should see what your friend comes up with and go personally to a dealer so they can really take a look at the coins and their dates and so on.

@RasmaSandra there aren't any dealers in my home city though a few in the county - my friend suggests direct ebay sales might be better

There are coin sites that deal specifically in coins. Vince is in one but it is just for Australians. I'm sure there'd be some in England. You do know not to clean coins don't you?
