That is according to a US News & World Report survey and will be no surprise to myLotter, @LadyDuck, I am sure.
The survey was conducted after the recent US election (hmm...any connection?). The rankings were arrived at by looking at countries that enjoyed measures of "peace, quiet and prosperity," as opposed to those that were suffering "uncertainty and turmoil."
Canada was ranked second, Britain third and the US fell to number seven, in part for lower ratings on "respect for human rights and democracy." Survey subjects, were, as always, 21000 "business leaders, informed elites and general citizens." I take "informed elites" to mean professional people and, perhaps, teachers and professors.
My agreement with the poll might generate suggestions that I move to Switzerland or somewhere, but I am native-born and will stay put, free to criticize the wayward direction we are headed.

@JamesHxstatic We spent about five minutes in Switzerland. We walked through a covered bridge from Germany into Switzerland then turned around and came back. :)

@LadyDuck We have had rain every day for a long time, 20 inches for the year so far, which is half our annual average. Some areas (not too close by) have flood warnings.

Yeah, get out of here and move to Switzerland! Actually that wasn't even on my mind until I read your final paragraph. I believe Switzerland has been in the top for many years now. As far as the U.S. it have been down the list for a long time due to several reasons including people being stressed out.
