It was a fun day walking with the Flamings and interacting with them. A visit to the Ardastra Gardens & Zoo in Nassau was a real treat. In this tranquil 5 acre tropical preserve, over 50 species of animals birds and reptiles live in a jungle like environment with lots of space to roam. The flamingos are free to walk around the grounds and don't seem to mind humans walking among them. It is so great to get so close to these beautiful creatures.

@Freelanzer I never seen them in person before, other than in photos or TV. White and pink, of course.

It sounds like a wonderful place to visit. Guessing the flamingos don't mind b/c they have humans about them all the time.

That would be a lot of fun. And it would give the visitors the chance to get some great photos.

Most of the zoos throughout Florida have Flamingos roaming the grounds, since our climate is similar to their native habitat. I was reading an article recently about how there are not many colonies of wild flamingos left in the world, but yet recently researchers discovered a very large colony of them on an island off the west coast of Florida!
