Have you ever ordered food, to find out you have to eat again because the food you originally ordered wasn't good?

I am bad at explaining hence the long title.
Anyway, that scenario is happening to my fiancé & I right now. He wanted Vietnamese food and I told him it's either a hit/miss even though the place we ordered from is one of the top ranking restaurants in the community. I personally don't like restaurant quality Vietnamese food and prefer my parents' homemade version and also I do not crave for Vietnamese food often.
Anyhow, he said yes! He's been craving for it. We get our food (take out) and the food wasn't all that great....... & now we are hungry again!
Off to buy more food!
Does this happen to you too?

We tend not to go back if we've been disappointed.
Are you guys going to stop going there?

We don't go often. Once in a blue moon & this time around it was disappointing. It's a hit or miss. It's the best in the area and raved by many but I don't think so. I don't crave for Vietnamese food even though I'm Vietnamese

Oh no! Did you guys end up not eating the not-great one and that's why you guys were hungry? I can't say we've ever had food that was completely that terrible . . . but even if it wasn't our favorite, we'd probably suck it up and eat it anyway. But we've probably never go back and recommend to friends NOT to go there.

No, and if I had food from somewhere where is wasn't good I wouldn't be going back again, just in case, it would be the same.

Yeah we concluded we won't be going back! We gave the place a couple shots. Sadly it's a well known mom & pops shop that has been around for as long as I remember but not good anymore.

@infatuatedbby yup...it's disappointing. When you order something with much enthusiasm and it turns out to be a bad choice.

@infatuatedbby It's because you have not the habit to cook and you never cook. It takes time and patience to learn to cook.

You are right that is a rather convoluted title and I am still not sure if you ate the original food or not.

If food is terrible I throw it away and phone the place to get a refund...and never go back.
I've had bad takeaways before and after tasting I've taken the food back to the place and made a fuss.
What I never do is complain and get replacement food...I know what can happen if you do that
Complain and get money back but don't get replacement food

Oh no never will I get replacement food
I don't want to make a fuss, they recognize my face and its locally. All well.. we won't be back. I always tell my fiancé its a hit/miss, but he swears it'll be good. Guess we wont be back there.

I've been disappointed but not to the point that I was still hungry and had to order more. At least not that I remember.

Yeah sometimes it happens... Then we dont visit those shops again. We pay for good food, if the food doesnt worth the money we pay, no use of buying from those people again.

Ah yes, I know the feeling, though usually it happens to me in reverse. I try and make a restaurant dish that I love at home, of course it's not as good then I still want the restaurant food

I think that's the problem with restaurant food, especially fast-food. You can end up eating a lot of empty calories, and as a result you feel hungry again shortly after you've eaten. When I eat out, I try to pick items on the menu that I know will fill me up. Not to put down Chinese food, which I love, but every time I eat Chinese I am hungry again 15 minutes later! haha

I think this is normal because sometimes we just want to experience that food. You said it right, it's a hit or miss scenario.

Yes, it was a gamble to get the food knowing it was a hit/miss. Darn!
