Prepared for the blizzard arriving soon

It is supposed to start snowing within an hour. It is predicted to be the worst blizzard since 1993 which I think was one two that were the worst in history for oir area.
I remember the joy of that blizzard in 1993 when I was young. I spent hours outside sleigh riding. School was cancelled for days and so many people were without power.
The already cancelled school (my daughters public school not my sons cyber school) for tomorrow. They actually cancelled my boyfriends work already as well which shocked me.
I saw on facebook a post where the shelves were all completely bare in the bread aisle. I don't even eat bread enough that I would hoard it before a storm. I actually thought such a thing was a joke until I saw that photo.
I ordered oil and an ready for this crazy storm.
I attached a photo of my pretty kitty just to liven my post up :-)

We are fine. We have lots of food as we go once a week to get groceries and I buy in bulk. It is still snowing and we had 23 inches the last I checked and hour ago. I doubt my daughter will have school tomorrow either. There has been a state of emergency and plows aren't even longer the roads. I have seen 3 go by all day that was it.

@JudyEv I actually just read a thing on dailybreak that made me think of you. It is about a lake in Australia right now that looks pink. It is my favorite color so I thought it is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. My town was mentioned on daily break as well as we have one of the town's with the highest snow fall from Stella. 4 miles up the road from me a girl I'm friends with showed she has 28 inches.

Sounds like you are getting what we already got all ours is almost gone. When I lived in Tennessee and they heard it was going to snow people we're out getting milk bread and whatever else they felt they needed. In Tennessee they don't get much even a dusting they cancel school they freak out it iz stupid because there is nothing really on the ground just wet a little

A friend of mine just moved there and they got a dusting of snow and cancelled school. We get plenty and they don't even delay it as long as the plows have properly cleared the roads. It is still snowing. I am exhausted and only shoveled for an hour. When we measured when we went out it was 23 inches.

@Tina30219 I bet my boyfriend who lives about 5 miles away got a lot more then me. Last time when we got 6 inches he got 13. I will have to ask him. They had a state of emergency so no one could be on the roads. I did see a few people anyway but they could be doctors and road crew etc.

I sure do. I remember very clearly playing out in the blizzard we had last which was in 1993. My kids were shocked to see so much snow today. It is the most they have seen in one time in their 12 & 9 year lives. I used to play in the snow all day when I was young but now I go out as little as possible. I made a small path down my sidewalk to the driveway but that's about it. My dad used a snow blower and did a path down my driveway to his driveway. It took forever because the snow was much taller then his snowblowers.

@allknowing oh true I hadn't thought of that. It is so cold there really isn't much of a way to explain it. Today it was fluffy so the wind picked it up easily and blew it in our faces as we were shoveling. My boyfriend said it took him 3 hours to shovel his driveway and his arms were killing him after.

@shaggin Most people have plenty of food, they just freak out needlessly. I cashed a customer out the last time snow was expected and she spent three hundred dollars. She wasn't expecting to spend that much because she'd just spent a bit less a few days ago. People don't keep control of their spending very well.

Yeah the grocery stores get cleaned out when people say snow around here. Or ice.

I really thought it was just a joke when people said they better get milk and butter before the storm. I saw a photo of our local supermarket someone posted today and the bread aisle was completely empty there as well. I am glad I have a few loaves in the freezer but I don't intend to really eat any. Then again maybe I can make my daughter some grilled cheese sandwiches as I just bought tomato soup this Sunday.

I think people take more preparations before hurricanes as I read that you have to nail boards over the windows to keep them from breaking.

After dealing with this cold for 29 years I can see why you moved somewhere warm. This is the second blizzard I have seen in my life.

@shaggin , I'm sorry your son was in a horrible mood from whatever set him off, I hope he was able to work with you to get through it. I also hope you are feeling better by now from your head and stomach, tense situations are the worst. Keep taking care and I hope the weather will clear soon.

I never realized how bad it was going to be until I started paying attention to the news last night. I can't believe you are getting hit with a blizzard when we should all be looking forward to Spring right now. It's even going to get down into the low 30s here in Florida! I hope you stay safe and warm until this storm passes!

30 for Florida sounds very chilly. Hi could get snow if it gets that cold. The last time I checked we had 23 inches and then I went and shoveled and it kept snowing lightly for a few more hours. I would say we got at least 25 inches and it is supposed to snow again tomorrow.

@shaggin Twenty-five inches sounds like a lot of snow! How much do you typically get during a normal winter?

How much snow were they calling for and how much did you actually get?
While it looked somewhat like a blizzard yesterday we were supposed to get 1-3 inches and got about that.
I'll be visiting with my sister tonight for a bit and will take my Walker to provide more stability on snowy sidewalks just to be safe. I've seen approved to only use the cane since last Friday, it when my feet are swollen I need the Walker for the first four steps.
I just took a quick pic from where I'm propped on the couch. It shows snow on roofs across the street.
Its' a bit blurry after cropping and fixing.

@shaggin Wowser, that many inches already? Where is it you live, if you don't mind me asking. I guess we got the lighter end of the stick.
As far as being safe, I'm less worried about falling now than I was before surgery.

@shaggin Ok, Pa then, same as Marilyn. My husband is from Pa north of Danville and Bloomsberg. He went to school in Millsville and Orangeville is a four corner town, township or whatever it's called there that is about half an hour from where he grew up.

We had more snow the last three day than we have seen in a few years. We should be getting dumped on, we are Canada ...but no. WE stayed home yesterday and today its supposed to rain and it was raining as I took the snow shovel to find my paper... The snow is pretty but I don't want to drive until the roads are clear.

I saw a satellite image of how the snow is effecting certain areas I noticed up upper eastern states but didn't notice Canada. I can't get in or out of my driveway and our mailboxes are buried. I can't find my garbage can so out out the night before lol. I have a narrow walking path down the long driveway thanks to my dad with the snow plow. I shoveled my sidewalk and a little of the driveway and it took me an hour. It will take me days to shovel this all. My vehicle is completely buried.

@DianneN ha ha was that the first year you decided to start going to Florida each year? As I was shoveling today so was thinking about you in Florida and thinking you might want to extend the trip there longer if coming back up north is going to be so brutally cold still for awhile.

My son and I measured when we were out shoveling a short while ago and it was 23 inches. It is still snowing though. It was very chilly and windy so we quit after about an hour.
