Nearing the finish line

My fellow Mylotter friends, today has been a bumpy road for me. Burnt cord for crockpot, broken ceramic soup dish. But this afternoon, I've received good news, (though I had no Upwork assignments to do today.) It's been a long while since I've posted an update on Venom. Since I've sent it over to the agent almost two months ago, I've heard back from her today. A little over a week ago, she told me she would read Venom during a writer's cruise two weeks ago. She would read it, review it, and talk to my former agent who had it for a long time. Since I didn't hear back from her last week, I've nudged her and heard back with a sigh of relief... She gave me a partial Revise and Resubmit for the first opening chapters with specific and personalized feedback to fix it. Although I've done self-edited it on my own with my online crit list for the first six chapters, I just have to go back to do the opening chapters with her comments and resubmit it back to her. I hope to send it to her by the end of this month. Plus, she also told me, that she has editors in mind that's looking for those type of novels, which is also in good timing! I believe my long road of querying Venom, (Chain Reaction and Diplomatic Immunity, too) is coming to the end. Same for entering contests, if I land her as an agent by my 41st birthday in 2.5 months. For those agents (and one small pub) who have given me R&Rs, I would have to nudge them if she offers real soon. After I go through this hurdle, I'm one step closer to being agented by summer, having my own editor, and be published next year!!! em]cheering[/em]

Thanks. She's not my agent... yet. But I still have a long road ahead of me to go. I'll keep everyone here posted.

@Lupita234 Thanks. It won't be until next year though. But an agent and an editor is the next step.

Yes you do. A lot of blood, sweat and tears goes into editing and then querying. Thanks!

Good for you. To see that hard work of revising, editing, rewriting until the final published book, it's something to be hopeful for.

Thank you! Other than blood, sweat and tears, I never gave up. I had determination, perseverance, and a lot of resilience too.

Thank you so much for sharing this process with us! So many (most?) readers (and some aspiring writers) have no idea of the underpinnings of the books they read (or for the writers, attempting to write). And by "underpinnings" I mean all the steps of the process, writing, re-writing, editing, submitting, getting rejections, typesetting, all that and more, not to mention all the effort to get an agent, a publisher, distribution, and on and on... Best of luck to you in your writing career!

@blitzfrick Revise and resubmit. In other words, it means they like the work, but it could be improved with their ideas. It's a step into the right direction if they approve it. I hope she would take me on and give me an offer by my birthday next month. I also have a R&R from a small pub from January and an agent from last fall for the full manuscript. I plan to send it back to them this summer at the latest, too. One other agent is waiting for the revisions, when I nudged her last month, and the other one I haven't heard back on...

You're welcome. I'm halfway through my partial R&R and waiting to hear from my beta reader on chapters 3-4. I hope to send it to the agent next month.
