Update on the blizzard of 2017

I didn't take any more snow measurements today but I wanted to share some photos from yesterday. We had 23 inches when I checked at 4pm yesterday. It snowed a few more inches after that.
My boyfriend got done shoveling his driveway today and he parked across the street and he and I spent an hour at least shoveling the end of my driveway out so he could pull in.
I shoveled a path down the driveway for my daughter to get get to school tomorrow. As I was at the end and overwhelmed by the height and thickness of the snow the state plow created at the end of my driveway a guy with a huge bulldozer came and plowed it all out in about 10 minutes. It was fascinating to watch and saved me days worth of shoveling.
School is cancelled again for my daughter tomorrow for the third day in a row.
The amount of snow we got in one day of this storm broke the record. We were in the top 5 cities in PA for highest snowfall amounts.
24 years ago on the same day we got this storm we got 20 inches of snow from "The Storm of the Century".

What a nice man to plow the mess left by the state! When things get rough, that's when you find out about all the good people around you.
I can't quite make out that first picture. It looks kind of like a roll of toilet paper? Or is it a view out a frosted glass?

LOL @dragon54u I saw toilet paper as well. As I look closer I can tell it is a snowbank outside a window.

@GardenGerty glad you were able to figure out what it was. I should have described what the photos were of but did not want to make the discussion to long as some people really hate it and mine tend to be a bit long.

It is amazing what can be accomplished when you have large equipment.to do the work. I hope you are stocked up on food and such.

I buy in bulk when we go shopping each weekend. We have plenty of food :-) I made Spinach Manicotti for dinner tonight and my boyfriend also brought a pizza over.

I love your photos, My vans looked like yours do in the photo. Then the wind came and now its all melted off the van we rarely use, the one we use daily had to be brushed off.. We got a couple of feet of snow too, It was pretty but certainly dangerous to drive in...for a while.

@shaggin We stayed in for one day, the second day my husband went to the Y for his exercise and steam room and did stop at the store on the way home. We both went out after that only because the roads were clear...our neighborhood was not clear but the important roads were. Hope you are snow free by now on your roads.

I had to do it in layers. It took me about 5 shovels full just to get one hole cut from top to bottom. It was such a slow process. I cannot even put into words how thankful I was that man stopped and plowed it all out for me. I still have to shovel out my mailbox and van but he saved me days and days worth of shoveling. The driveway is long!

@JudyEv My dad has tachacardia (not the correct spelling) so he is not supposed to shovel snow. He did a few months back and wound up in the hospital. He is having surgery soon to get everything cleaned out so it won't keep happening all the time any time he exerts his heart at all.

We never lost power at all and our internet only went out for a few minutes at a time the second day and only a few times at that. We were lucky. I spent about 2 hours shoveling my van out today, my mailbox and the ends of my driveway where the state plows left some snow on their way by.

I live in the south and if we have snow it's like a party. Schools and businesses close and the grocery stores get raided early on. Of course, northerners that are living down here now, (otherwise known as dam Yankees!) like to make fun of how we can't drive in the snow. I have visited upstate NY once during a winter and fortunately, I had someone with me that could drive in that snow. I don't envy all of your snow.

@shaggin I think if I lived up north I would become a "Snow Bird" and travel down south during the winter months.

I agree with the others what a nice man to come by and plow out all the snow. When we had our storm a couple weeks ago we made some records and even made our paper here.

This man wouldn't take any money he did it just to be nice. I guess he went around and helped plow out a lot of people. He plowed out the area around my parents mailbox as well. I still have to dig mine out today but I am so thankful for what he did. It would have taken me all week or more to shovel all that he did in a few minutes with his bulldozer.

@shaggin That was nice of him he was doing his good deed by helping people out so they did not have to shovel which was very nice of him to do.

Nope I hate being cold. I only went out to shovel. My kids had fun playing in it today. My 12 year old daughter said it is the most snow she has ever seem in her life. She is bored after being home from school for 3 days and is looking forward to going back tomorrow.

Well I'm surprised your boyfriend was able to drive there. At least you all stayed safe and I'm sure your kids are happy with the no school ruling. I'm not sure I remembered you also had a daughter that goes to school What grade is she in?
We will be having more yo-yo weather coming up again. Warm then snow, then warm then rain or snow. Sheesh. But, probably no snowfall like you got at least.

I don't talk about my daughter as much as she doesn't give me as many problems so I don't need to vent as much. She is in 7th grade. I have to go out and shovel out my van and the mailbox later but my son is being so awful I don't think I am going to be able to get it done today.

Ha ha well that would be good if it went to people who lived far away but everyone I know and would send a Christmas card to lives in the area and has seen first hand all this huge amounts of snow.

That was the highest snowfall we ever had in one day during the blizzard of 1993. This blizzard best that. My kids thought it was fantastic just like I did at their age but I did not enjoy this at all ha ha.
