It's easy to take friends for granted. I don't want to take you for granted. You have cheered and encouraged me when I've been down. You have given me advice when I've asked for it. You have shared important things you've learned or suffered and you've also shared your joys and celebrations. You have enabled me to reach across oceans and continents to meet you just by connecting with me here. Many of us have heard or sung the song, "Let There be Peace on Earth and Let it Begin with Me." I believe peace will come as individuals across the world get to know each other as people instead of believing stereotypes portrayed in media or on film. I need to understand your daily life and you mine. I want to know what motivates you and share what motivates me. Each of us is influenced by our geography, religion, economic status, and political environment, but that does not mean we can't learn to understand and appreciate each other. MyLot provides a "safe" environment to get to know each other and make friends across all of what might otherwise be barriers. Have your myLot friendships helped you understand people better who have a different environment or perspective? Have you been able to learn from others here whom you might disagree with? Have you changed your mind about anything because of something someone shared here? Have you discovered something you didn't know you had in common with someone who lives across the world from you? Have you learned something new about another part of the world because you've been here? How have myLot friendships changed your life? Thank you to all the myLot friends who interact with me regularly. You've helped me understand the world and my own life better.

My myLot friends here taught me a lot about how they are in their country, their weather , their traditions, and culture. I love reading these things about my friend. And I also love their sharing of experiences here. It's as if their post has already made them close to me already. myLot helped me improve my writing.

I have learned how different countries handle even transportation differently than we do here. I also learn about how different our popular foods are. We even have different wildlife in our yards. I have deer. @JudyEv has kangaroos, and @allknowing has monkeys. I love the photos my friends share of their local areas and their activities. I also learn about the unique celebrations of each friend's country and religion.

Yes mylot has influenced my life in some way. I have known that there are lots of people in the world who have more problems than I have. That way it has taught me to be patient and given me more strength to cross those daily obstacles which come in daily life.

@bagarad but few people don't understand it and they ignore other's problem.

Good point!. We all have problems wherever we live in the world, but some people have problems that make our own look smaller.

I don't think I could begin to enumerate how much I have learnt here. I believe I am more tolerant, more likely to think 'he/she probably doesn't mean it to sound quite the way it does, it might be okay in their country'. I've learnt so much more about everyday people who are like just like me with hopes and aspirations, good and bad days, etc.

Exactly! We learn how little we really know about life in another part of the world we've not read much about or visited.

@bagarad Before today I've only ever had the knowledge gleaned from official websites or news bulletins.
