Now and then I buy the root itself and add a piece which I cut up up into small pieces in my food or salad. It is supposed to be very healrthy for us.

i know turmeric (luyang dilaw) is supposed to be healthy, but i haven't drank it yet. i think it would be good to add to lugaw or arroz caldo, but it's so hard to peel.

@averygirl72 they're smaller than ginger (luya), the skin is darker and seems to have stripes. when you slice it, it's orange inside. you can ask around the next time you go to the wet market.

I just spilled Turmeric 9ver my friend's kitchen. Looking at the colour of the cloth I wiped it up with I think this is a drink I will avoid!

Maybe they look the same as ginger but they differ in color and taste. I think my father likes the taste. We don't actually know that it is healthy
