And hopefully, some more people will stop by and readvthis post.... A friend of mine told me about an insurance that he found on line...
It's for when you hire a car and have to cover the excess costs, in the event of an accident or theft or breakdown of the vehicle... usually known as Loss and CDW (collision damage waiver).
The car hire company offer a basic package for free when you hire the car..., but..., if you read the terms and conditions, you'll see that it doesn't cover certain things..., things that you would think, would be included.., for eg... lights, tyres and windscreen, you have to pay extra for those, and they can be expensive on top of the cost of hiring the car.
I remember once, I resented paying the extra for the lights and windscreen cover etc... so I didn't... but, I was paranoid the whole time I had the car... I was worried about parking it anywhere where it could get damaged... so from then on I paid for the extra... begrudgingly ...
But... this new insurance means I do not have to take out extra cover....
Unlike the hire car rental policies, this one is all inclusive, you don't have to take out an extra policy for lights, tyres , windscreen, mirrors and breakdown, one price covers all.. and you can buy an annual policy that covers multple hires, or.. on a, as and when required basis...
I do not have a car in the uk..., and often hire a car when travelling there, especially when train times and bus timetables do not fit my travel plans.
Today I purchased an annual policy for £37.99 which gives me complete peace of mind, knowing I'm financially protected and have full vehicle damage insurance.
I'm so pleased he shared this with me ... so I thought I would share it with you.
I don't know if you know about it..or have need of it... but I thought it was interesting....
the photo is mine ... I don't have a photo of any hire cars...

yes @BelleStarr you should have a look at your american express policy, because if it does cover all of the above... then you are paying twice...

The small print is usually something that would make you stop freezing in the middle of life. The small print at the dry cleaners says that should anything happen to your garments, they will not pay for it.
A couple of days ago, as many mylotters know, I went in for a surgery. I had to read a long list of small print and sign it. Whatever happened to me was not the doctor´s responsibility. I did not read and asked where I should sign. I was already there. I was not going to walk out.

@sueznewz2 Fine print, for me, is usually a warning that something bad could happen to me.

It's an insurance policy... @KrauseHome not a driver...

Exactly ... @LadyDuck and you never use the extra coverage you took out... so it's wasted money... but I'm happy with this solution...

Small-print, weasel-words - same thing really.
Sounds like you have found a way to make the small-print null and void ;)
(well, as far as car hire costs go!)
Reminds me of this little bit of an excellent animated film:

Love the bloom and I believe our car insurance covers us when using a rental, I will have to look that up. to be sure, we rarely rent a car...but occasionally...

I Know many years ago... your own insurance did cover car hire... but these days... it may have changed as they want to get more money for less services.... @PainsOnSlate

When I rent a car I always get the added insurance. You never know what might happen and being away from home I can't just call my mechanic for help. Peace of mind like Deb said.
