A piece of Italy

About a month ago I promised a friend here that I would share some Italian music - and this is proving more difficult than I expected. The problem is that I don't have a favorite Italian artist. My taste in music is totally different from what the Italian music industry provides. So I am sharing an old but extremely Italian instrumental piece which I love from some years ago. It was popular outside Italy too. You might or might not be aware of it but it will definately have an Italian sound to brighten up your day wherever you are and whatever the weather is! Do you know of or have any favorite Italian artists? No problems with translations here as there are no words @ichchhe_mrityu Enjoy and happy Sunday everyone!

I've only heard La Serenissima by Rondò Veneziano, but I liked this one too! I'm into several genres, and I'm sometimes in the mood for instrumental. Soundtracks from movies tend to be my favorite, especially the horror ones. Well, I have a few favorite Italian artists, including mainstream ones, such as Negramaro. I don't usually listen to new music, but I heard the Sanremo's winning song several times this week. I'm just excited to know it might do well at Eurovision.

This is my favorite piece by Rondo Veneziano. It's so ìhappyì sounding and get me going quicker when I hear it You think we have a chance at the Eurovision festival with that?

@mysdianait It's perfect for the morning, I believe. Well, I saw several people commenting and reviewing Occidentali's Karma very well. The music is catchy, we just hope people will also pay attention to the lyrics, quotes and meaning. @ichchhe_mrityu Too many songs in my mind for choosing one. However, here's the one we're going to bring to Eurovision. This is a shorter version because some pieces of lyrics had to be removed because of the contest's standards, but at least you can enjoy the video with subtitles.
Francesco Gabbani will represent Italy at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with the song Occidentali's Karma (Eurovision version)

This is not what I w9ould have expected you to listen to Diana. It is virtually a modernised version of chamber music.

@mysdianait What surprised me was that It is bordering on the classical, which I did not consider your style.

@Asylum Oh! Many of my favorites are classical pieces! Especially when played by talented young musicians. I posted one a couple of months back which you might have missed so I will put it here:

It's happy, vigorous and doesn't force the brain to understand any lyrics! That makes it easy listening!

What a jolly, springlike piece! I love the slideshow that goes with it - all really fine pictures of Venice which are not the usual views and scenes but, nevertheless are unmistakeably Venice. Although I liked the music, it didn't seem to me to be particularly Italian (apart from the title), though I'm not sure what I was expecting ... maybe something with mandolines or Mario Lanza singing 'O Haddock Mio' or that one which celebrates the new rope railway? Perhaps not! Browsing around, I realised just what a perfect language Italian is for singing. I rather liked this, though I can't hope to understand the words!
1 million views !!!!. Thank you all. Also lots of new music in 2017. Happy Holidays http://www.youtube.com/user/eduardo31v 0:00:00 EROS RAMAZZOTTI - Piu' bel...

You summed up the video and the music beautifully in your first phrase Mandolines are particulalry from south Italy. They are played in the streets all over Italy though and extremely characteristic. The vidoe you attached is indeed a great selection of Italian music - but those lyrics need a transaltion to fully appreciate them. Maybe I will eventually get round to doing a couple of posts with lyrics in English too.

Quite nice but I love Spanish Music. Ir might seem strange to anyone from back home but I love Spanish Singers too. Nino Bravo is the foundation of Music in Spain for me and Jose Luis Perales. Eros Ramazzotti and Laura Pausini and Al Bano and Romina Power. I liked Pavarrotti but I much prefer Harry Secombe to him and although both are gone I like to hear them its a way of appreciating what they did for us. I hope Al Bano is recovering from his spate of illness he has suffered so much in this life.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I think she is off the scene now. Yesterday it was his wife who was informing that he is on the mend.

I heard yesterday that Albano is recoveing well but that he must rest. His problem is that he doesn't and will return to hiw work much too soon which could have terrible consequences

@mysdianait I love to hear him sing and I don´t want him to work himself so hard. He has had so much sadness in his life and wishing him all the best. Maybe Romina can help bring him some peace at least.

I loved the song and the images of Venice in the video, it was very energetic and intense! I know Eros Ramazzotti, he was very popular in Greece. I had also watched a live performance of Ludovico Einaudi in Athens last year and I was very impressed.
