Feral Children become Feral Adults

The nightclub shooting in Ohio is indicative of what happens when feral children, devoid of social skills and societal mores, reach the age of adulthood without ever having grown up to be responsible adults capable of handling disputes, disagreements, or disappointment without resorting to violence. I fear we are only going to see more incidents like this if there aren't some huge sea changes in the near future. Do you see this as the future of cities and towns around the formerly civilized democratic world?
CINCINNATI — Gunmen opened fire at a crowded hip-hop nightclub early Sunday, killing one person, wounding 15 and sparking bedlam as partygoers fled the rampage, authorities said.

That would be so sad but it might actually be true in what you said.

This is a very, very unpopular opinion but I think that if mothers could stay home with their children we would see a huge reduction in crime and mental illness in about 20 years. I know some moms have to work but I see so many who work just so they can have extras in life like a boat, a bigger house, nicer clothes, stuff like that. The kids are raised by a series of strangers and develop attachment disorder and other mental diseases. They learn not to care about people so it's nothing to them to shoot up a nightclub. This is simplifying a very serious problem but I believe it's part of the solution. In Germany the government pays a mom or other family member to stay home with a child for the first couple years and their juvenile crime rate is a fraction of ours.

Unfortunately it is a shame when things like this are continuing to happen, and a lot of times it is stemming back from their childhood and the way they were raised. They might have never been taught any morals and allowed to do anything, or they could have come from a broken home and shown no real love, or maybe a manipulative abusive home never taught anything different. All we can do is Pray for more eyes to be opened to help more kids understand and want a better life for themselves in the future.

As teachers, we try to be role models and help these kids learn appropriate civil behavior. Sadly, we are fighting what seems like a losing battle, as they are getting a very different lesson at home. What's worse, the kids from good homes think it is "cool" to act like the feral kids because with our current educational system, the feral kids are allowed to get away with so much in an effort to be compassionate and understanding.

I think you are right. With more and more 'ferals' out there, a country can only head towards anarchy.

And it will only get worse as the divide between the haves and have nots widens.

It is sad when decent, law-abiding citizens have to be afraid to go out at night because of the feral elements loose in society.

The cops have shut down a few Colorado Springs nightclubs due to excessive violence. I don't see it getting any better.

They may kill each other off. I hear what you are saying, really. You are concerned and you are not seeing much improvement anywhere. It may turn our society more introverted. Less likely to be in public, and more paranoid. If/when that happens and people flee social interaction, the feral ones have won.

There has been a long history of flight from the inner cities due to exactly this kind of thing. Some cities have been going through a gentrification of folks moving back into downtown, but the benefits are not reaching into the urban jungle where these feral types are breeding and spreading.

I have to agree. A child usually does grow up to be the way they were taught to be. Unfortunately some of the parents out there dropped the ball along the way and forgot to teach their children the importance of society, behavior and plain old good manners. It is rapidly becoming a society of me people who want what they want when they want it and have anger issues that are so out of control that they don't care what they have to do to get what they waqnt.

I have believed we are heading for a "Mad Max" world for a long time and that process is accelerating. Let's face it, the majority of the world's population is not civilized as per our definition.

The majority of the world never has been, and I feel we are losing what little we have. The veneer of civilization has always been a thin one. If you look at what happened in New Orleans after Katrina 12 years ago, you can see how thin it really is.

I see this as very true. I work in the school system and I see so many situations where kids are not getting the help they need at home because parents are either too busy or just disinterested. When kids are not getting the emotional care or support at home it does not bode well for their future.
