Some here may have watched the video included here about Gait training for a Parkinson's patient using music. It was shared on Facebook at one point and may have also been shared here.
Music therapy can be a wonderful thing for many illnesses and disorders. The man in the video here has an amazing turnaround, although temporary, following his music therapy.
Are you aware of how such music therapy is being used for Parkinson's patients and other situations?

@Jeanniemaries It really is. Although Music Therapy is not new, it seems it is not widely accepted.

My husband has Parkinson's so I will keep this in mind when he gets to the point where this becomes an issue.

@PatZAnthony I do wonder, actually I try a lot of things with him beyond what his neurologist suggests, she is all about medication.

We were surprised to learn how little the medical community knows about this disease. Wonder if using the music now would have some type of healing ability @BelleStarr

I have heard that music can get through to people in amazing circumstances. The movie "Awakenings" with Robin Williams comes to mind.

Apparently not everyone with Parkinson's is offered music therapy @Shavkat
Hoping it will soon be offered everywhere.

@PatZAnthony I do agree, my friend. I am a Physiotherapist and haven't tried to incorporate during my treatment session with the PD patients. But I do think it is effective.

I learned for myself how helpful music is with depression, so I'm really not surprised how it can help with other ailments and diseases. I think it's just wonderful since there is SO much music in the world and we can all benefit from a little bit of time spent with music. I know it doesn't take long before my feet get tapping and I'm singing along and moving my body even when I'm not trying to do anything specific!

I learned about Music Therapy when I was in Japan. It's been used there for a long time now. Over here, this therapy has been recently used for those with dementia and for the elderlies. It's very effective.
