PICTURE PERFECT.

When you leave your home to go to work or shopping, or fun - whatever - is it very important to you that your home is left looking smart from top to bottom? I once knew a lady (single) who never left her apartment without first ensuring that beds were made, dishes washed and living room and bathroom picture perfect.
Nine years later, she is living in another country with a husband and three children - and I can't help but wonder if that habit has been maintained. Personally, I try to keep my space as neat as possible at all times - too much clutter and confusion would give me a headache. Yet I believe that a home should look lived in . Which would you prefer - a sterile looking home or one that looks lived in - but not untidy?

i would prefer to live in a tidy house, not necessarily out-of-dust home. i sometimes disarrange my things and challenge my mind into recalling where i put that thing.

@ridingbet What is OCD? I get tired of seeing things in the same position all the time, so I like rearranging and redecorating.

It is indeed a very good habit to keep our home clean, whether we are inside our outside. Cluttered and unorganized rooms always give a bad feeling. We also try to keep our rooms clean and make sure that things are lying on their respective places.

@Kandae11 - Yes, I think most of us love to keep our rooms tidy and clean. Sometimes, it may happen that we are in a hurry to leave our home, in that case we may leave it an unorganized manner.

My house was kept even more spotless when my husband was alive and my kids were babies. Now it is very tidy but I do not clean it as obsessively as I once did. My closets are full of things I need to sell. I do like to make sure when I leave my house it it clean so I can come home to a clean house.

Right now due to my Fibromyalga, etc our place could use some thorough cleaning and straightening. If I had the $$ I would find someone who could come help do this, and then see how much it would cost to have them come back once a month just to help keep it more maintained.

The only place where I would go for a treasure hunt is our dining table and my cupboard (lol)

i understand it's nicer to come home to a neat house, especially after a long day.
i think it also depends on the owner, if you see them relaxed or tense or apologetic or fixing or swiping at stuff while entertaining you.

My mother always said that when you go out you don't know what may happen that may necessitate strangers bringing you home,- and you won't want them to think that you keep an untidy house. Generally speaking though I would feel more comfortable if I knew my house was in good shape when I left it.

I like everything neat and tidy, but it doesn't always stay that way

It is easier to keep a tidy home when the kids have grown up and left. I like tidy but \I have also grown to accept the fact that it isn't always realistic. I would rather be doing other fun things than mopping every spot off the floor

A home that is lived in and tidy. Three nephews are with us in the province. When I go home on weekends the house is not picture perfect but it definitely is home sweet home.

I like to leave the apartment in a way that if I bring home a friend that I am not ashamed. Just clean and tidy enough but nothing perfect.

I like neat. You never know when someone will come and you are judged by how clean and neat you are personally and your house.

Okay well if you asked my wife she would love the picture perfect it was how she lived when we met. It didn't look like anyone actually lived there more like a display.
After the kids well its a lot to do so it now is how I like it clean but obvious that people live there.
